Humboldt seniors honoured by Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism

A pair of Humboldt seniors have received recognition in the Celebrating Seniors Provincial Volunteer Awards. 

Two volunteers were nominated by the community for the Awards, Carol Oleksyn and Joan Jackson. Jackson won an Intergenerational Award which is given to a  senior who inspires and creates positive interactions between generations.  

Broncos double up Millionaires at home

The Humboldt Broncos went to work quickly and efficiently to shut down the Melville Millionaires on Saturday night to skate away with a 6 - 3 win.  

Jeter Korte opened the scoring at the 8-minute mark with a slick a fake and top shelf move as you'll see to beat Mills goalie Luke Brunen.  

Then closing in on the end of the first Tre Fouquette took a shot from the point for the second Broncos goal. 

Human trafficking investigation in Dundurn leads to multiple charges for Quebec man

A 51-year-old man from Quebec is facing several charges from a human trafficking investigation that began in Dundurn conducted by Saskatchewan RCMP’s Human Trafficking and Counter Exploitation Unit (HTCEU), part of the Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT), and Saskatoon RCMP Detachment. 

On Wednesday, October 23, Saskatoon RCMP were dispatched to a business on a report of a kidnapping.  

Fall suppers in LeRoy and Humboldt

Early November is a perfect time for Fall Suppers, and residents of LeRoy and Humboldt areas can take their pick from a pair of great options, both on Sunday, November 3. 

Holy Rosary Parish in LeRoy serves up its annual supper between 4:30 and 6:00 pm at the LeRoy School Gymnasium. The traditional fare of turkey, stuffing, potatoes and the requisite gravy with anchor the feast. 

Adults pay $18, youth 13 years and under pay 9, the family rate is $50, and children under 5 are free. 

SaskPower continues electric carbon tax relief

Beginning today (Nov.1), SaskPower will be providing a 60 per cent reduction in federal carbon tax for customers who rely on electricity as their primary source of heat in their homes. This reduction will remain in effect until April 30, 2025.  

The calculation for the 60 per cent reduction was determined based on the typical percentage of power consumption required for home heating. 

Saskatchewan writer Marilyn Frey pays a visit to the Reid Thompson Library

The Reid Thompson Library welcomes Saskatchewan writer Marilyn Frey for a reading on Wednesday, November 6 at 6 pm.  

Marilyn Frey will be reading from her autobiography “Reflections in a Farmhouse Window.” Her memoir draws readers into a much simpler time in the 1960s and 1970s growing up on a farm in central Saskatchewan where hard work and discipline help develop a strong work ethic and character.” 

Humboldt RCMP Investigate a Vehicle Mischief and Property Theft from a Business in the RM of Three Lakes

On October 30, 2024, the Humboldt RCMP investigated a complaint of a broken vehicle window and theft of property at a business located in the RM of Three Lake near the community of Middle Lake, Saskatchewan. The occurrence happened at approximately 8:41 pm on October 29, 2024.

Prince Albert man wanted in relation to aggravated assault that led to emergency alert on Oct.24

As a part of the ongoing investigation conducted by the Sask. RCMP General Investigation Section, charges were laid on Thursday, and a warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Prince Albert man that led to an emergency alert on October 24.

Advance Polls for Municipal Election open on Friday

With the Civic Election coming up on Wednesday November 13. Residents can cast their ballots ahead of election day.

Advance Polls open in Humboldt tomorrow (Friday, November 1) at the St. Mary's Villa from 10 am to 3 pm. 

Next week you can stop by Jubilee Hall inside of the Uniplex to fill out your ballot from 1-9 pm on Tuesday (Nov.5), Wednesday (Nov.6) and Thursday (Nov.7).

Saturday, November 9 will be the final advance poll at Caleb Village from 1-5 pm.
