St. Gregor Poker Rally and Lake Lenore Fish Smoker always a tandem treat
Gusty northern winds and dropping temperatures didn’t put a chill on the St. Gregor Poker Rally this Saturday. Dozens of sleds gathered at the St. Gregor Community Hall to register and meet to hit the trails. Visitors stopped by to pick up poker hands and enter for countless draws, the 50-50 and grab a smokie or beef on a bun. The funds stay in St. Gregor to help the community hall. As always, many thanks to the dozens of local donors who provided merchandise for the draws.

A canopy of butterflies hovered over the audience at the Gallery’s presentation of Saskatchewan musical artists Munro and Patrick on Saturday, adding to the warmth and excitement of the show. The display from the current exhibition was the perfect addition to the energy of the talented duo’s music.
SHA issues statement on temporary service disruption for Watrous Hospital emergency services
Throughout the month of January, the Watrous Hospital will be experiencing temporary service disruption in their emergency room during the week between 4:30pm-8:00am and throughout weekends until January 21.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority has released a statement explaining the situation.
Humboldt Museum hosts winter winged display: On the Trail of the Monarch Butterfly
While the Gallery across the street has its own display of butterflies, across the street, the Humboldt and District Museum has its own butterfly related exhibition going on.
In August 2005, Mexican filmmaker and pilot Francisco Gutiérrez took off in his ultralight aircraft from Montreal to follow the monarch butterflies on their 6,000 km migration from Canada to the mountains of central Mexico, in a bid to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the butterflies’ habitat.
Communities and RMs receive funding for traffic safety projects
Some communities and RMs around the area have been selected as grant recipients from Provincial Traffic Safety Fund for projects to improve traffic safety.
Among the recipients include the Town of Colonsay who will receive $45,214 for a Pedestrian Crosswalks Lights Project
The Town of Cudworth will get just over $8,265 dollars for a speed awareness project.
YIR - Prairie Sky Trails Association wraps up with an anniversary and new programs
For the third year of its operation, the Prairie Sky Trails Association (PSTA) has continued to refine its offerings, providing a variety of community programs aimed at promoting physical recreation for all ages. Whitney Shussel, the director of the Prairie Sky Collective, shared the highlights of their year, emphasizing the success of their numerous initiatives designed to engage youth and adults alike.
Top ten calls that "missed the mark" in 2024
2024 was another busy year for the Saskatchewan RCMP's Divisional Operational Communications Centre (DOCC) with 367,707 calls for service made. These calls ranged from 911 misdials and false alarms to serious incidents regarding matters of public safety.

*Weekend Update* Sleds are set to hit the snow this Saturday in St. Gregor
There’ll be a gaggle of grinning sled goers out in St. Gregor on Saturday, January 11 with their annual St. Gregor Community Club Poker Rally.
Snowmobilers can gather at the Community Hall for the 11 am registration and then the sleds hit the trail with a return time of 5 pm.
Participants can pick up their poker hands for the rally with a chance at big money.
