We have a very busy weekend coming up in the southeast. There are many fun events and fundraisers that you can attend, and we will be at five of them! 

Friday, May 31 

Kicking off the weekend with the grand opening for La Boutique des Chenes at the Villa Youville (15 Charriere RD, Ste Anne) from 1pm-4pm. 

The boutique will sell locally made items and is completely run by volunteers. Villa Youville’s mission is to “enrich lives and build a stronger, more vibrant community,” and the boutique will be so helpful in completing that goal.  

The annual ‘Spring Twist Off’ is also happening on Friday at the Keystone Agri-Motive Livestock Arena in Grunthal. Gates open at 5pm and the main event will begin at 7pm.  

Come watch the riders take on the 8-second challenge. Admission is $30 and free for 5 and under.  

Saturday, June 1 

Check out some sweet cars, trucks, and motorcycles at the Kleefeld Car Show! From 9am to 3pm at the Kleefeld Rec Centre (100 Park Avenue).  

You can also expect a BBQ lunch, a canteen, popcorn and mini doughnuts, music and a 50/50 draw. Proceeds go towards updating the public skating rink.  

Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue is hosting a Meet the Board event from 11am-3pm at Pet Valu. 

This event is held to meet the rescue board members and get more information about adoption and volunteer opportunities. A Q&A session will also be held to help with any questions. They will also have prizes to win!  

Sunday, June 2  

Life Culture is hosting their annual Walk for Life at KR Barkman Park (515 Main St) on Sunday. The BBQ will start at 1pm followed by greetings at 2pm and the walk afterwords.  

The Walk for Life is also known as a baby shower. Walkers are encouraged to bring diapers, a baby gift, or gift card to help single or struggling mothers.

Wendy’s Show Us Your Summer is kicking off with a chance to win a $200 Wendy’s Gift Card and a frosty plushy.  

All you have to do is take a selfie of you and your favourite Wendy’s treat OR take a picture with us or the Dodge Jeep Wrangler. Scan the QR code on the Jeep or send in your photo to Steinbach Online for a chance to win.

The winner for this round will be picked on Friday, May 31, so get your pictures in fast!

Other events you can attend this weekend:  

 Roseau River Family FunFest – Saturday, June 1 

Check out the Roseau River Park for a fun-filled day. Starting at 1pm they will have a car show, kid's activities, dunk tank, canteen, fireworks, and music by Byron Falk and the Half-time Cowboys. It is free admission.  

New Bothwell Wine and Cheese Festival – Saturday, June 1 

Join New Bothwell in raising funds for community projects from 7pm-10pm at the Community Centre. Attendees must be 18 and over.   

Tache Pancake Breakfast – Saturday, June 1 

Landmark Fire Department is hosting their pancake breakfast fundraiser available from 8am-11am at the Fire Hall (150 Main St, Landmark). There is more than just delicious pancakes... this year they have a silent auction! 

Teddy Bear Fun Day – Saturday, June 1 

This is a free family event at EA Friesen Park from 10am-1pm hosted by Agape House. They are offering a teddy bear adoption booth, temporary tattoos, games, petting zoo, craft stations and more.  

55th Rock Cyclathon – Saturday, June 1 

This fundraiser is for Red Rock’s summer camp program. Overall, the camp wants to help give children who can’t afford to go, the opportunity to join in on the fun camp. As well as supporting the volunteers who work at the camp.  

AC Music Fest – Saturday, June 1  

Join Gardenton Park for Classic Rock, Folk and Country Music all day long. Gates open at 1pm and entertainment from 2pm-12am. Perogie dinner from 5pm-7pm for $12.50 a plate. Tickets are $25 and children under 10 get in free.
