The Humboldt Broncos made a trade on the weekend, picking up 2004-born forward Gabriel Filion from the Estevan Bruins in exchange for a player development fee.
Filion collected 23 points (9G-14A) in 52 games last season. He was acquired by Estevan midway through the 2022-23 campaign and ended up with 19 points (11G-8A) in 30 games for the Bruins.
Prior to joining the Bruins, the Montreal, QC native spent time in the CCHL with the Rockland Nationals and in the AJHL with the Grande Prairie Storm.
In a team release, Broncos Head Coach and GM Scott Barney said, “We are ecstatic to add a player with Gabriel’s experience. He’s as elite of a skater as you’ll find in this league and plays the style of game that we love here in Humboldt. He plays all three forward positions very well. We feel, in his final year of junior hockey, that he can be a really impressive offensive threat that impacts the game on a nightly basis.”
The Broncos will continue stockpiling their roster with the SJHL Draft coming up next week on Tuesday, June 11.
