2024 and 2025 marked the 150th anniversaries of Mennonite communities in Manitoba and in this season of Still Speaking, host Conrad Stoesz from the Mennonite Heritage Archives is telling stories around this theme.

Johann Schroeder lived an eventful and difficult life. He made it to Manitoba in the spring of 1875, but he might not have survived the journey if it wasn’t for an unlikely lifesaving device.
