A 42-year-old CN police officer was arrested for impaired driving earlier this month after a caller reported an erratic driver on the Trans Canada Highway, east of Brandon, shortly before 10 a.m. on November 6th.

According to Manitoba RCMP, the caller indicated their concern for the driver who was the wheel of a marked police SUV.

After following the vehicle for a short time, the caller lost site of it, but Blue Hills RCMP officers were able to identify it based on the caller's information and found the suspect at a home in Brandon where they arrested him.

Back at the detachment, RCMP say the driver's breath samples came out to be over twice the legal limit.

The CN police officer, who was on duty at the time of the complaint, will be facing impaired driving charges, and is due in court in early January.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba was notified the day of the arrest and is monitoring the investigation.
