Santa got a little assist from the Humboldt Fire Department on Moonlight Madness and the Santa Claus Parade.

The sidewalks were cleared, the roads were ready, and the weather cooperated on Thursday night for a fantastic Moonlight Madness and Santa Claus Parade experience. Hundreds of shoppers and sightseers lined Main Street and 9th Avenue for the parade.

There were all manners of vehicles dressed up with lights, garlands, ribbons and bows, from tractors and the Fire Department's heavy equipment to beautiful antique trucks and horse drawn carriages. It was an outstanding and colorful effort by local businesses and organizations to put together the first Santa Claus Parade.

The downtown core was absolutely bustling with people meeting by the fire pits just outside the museum. Kids gathered inside the museum for crafts activities and treats. Meanwhile across the street Ian Elliott, keyboardist extraordinaire, performed time honored Christmas classics while dozens of bidders checked their standings in the Friends Festival Auction.

Local businesses on the downtown strip saw a great turnout, while carolers wandered the street serenading impromptu audiences with Christmas tunes.

A big shout out to the Humboldt Downtown BID and to local businesses for their efforts in drawing a huge crowd to the downtown core and making the Moonlight Madness and Santa Claus parades memorable.
