It was a busy month of June in the Humboldt and surrounding area with plenty of celebrations along with some significant weather events. Here's a look back at some of the highlights in June.
Huge turnout for Build a Home Walk for St. Mary's Villa
Friends, families and residents of St. Mary’s Villa participated in Sunday’s Walk for St. Mary’s Villa. The “Build and Home” Walk saw trekkers head from the Villa toward Highway 5, everyone basking in the Sunshine of what turned out to be a glorious day. Walkers pledged dollars toward the construction of a new St. Mary’s Villa complex.

The aftermath of Sunday's (June 23) storm still being calculated
Summer in Saskatchewan usually comes with unpredictable weather, and that was evident on Sunday.
Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Stephen Berg explains that tornado activity occurred near Martensville and close to Melfort. He added that they will conduct a follow-up investigation to analyze the exact damage from the storm.
There have been reports of a tornado touchdown in the RM of Bayne near Bruno

Gallery: Summer Sizzler Parade
It was a perfect Saturday morning for the Humboldt & District Chamber of Commerce's Summer Sizzler Parade. Residents lined up on Main Street, 11th Avenue and 16th Street to see floats, new and vintage farm equipment, vehicles, animals and more head down the streets before ending up at the Uniplex grounds for the Canada Day/Summer Sizzler activities.

Another great success for the Humboldt Music and Food Festival
As if to ensure its success, the clouds tumbled menacingly around the Humboldt Music and Food Festival on Saturday but left the skies blue over the festive event. Hundreds gathered through the course of two days in celebration of Filipino, Canadian and other cultures in the festival’s third year.

Saskatchewan teachers' job action ends as binding arbitration agreed upon
The job action by the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation will end at 4:00 p.m. today, as the STF has agreed to participate in binding arbitration on the issues of wages and class size and complexity. The announcement was made at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon. In addition to the end of job action, no further sanctions will be taking place.

New pieces of history highlights Carlton Trail College's 50th anniversary celebrations
The 50th anniversary was a special one for Carlton Trail College.
Last week, the year-long festivities ended with the unveiling of a pair of new additions, a mural, and a metal structure from two artists that will help create a unique impression for years to come.

Bruno and RM of Bayne celebrate opening of emergency services facility
Around 400 people converged on the brand new Emergency Services Building to Bruno to celebrate the grand opening with a burger supper and a program.
The ground was broken on the project roughly a year ago, and with the completion of the building, the Bruno Fire Department and its emergency responders have a state of the art facility that will be able to house all their equipment and provide an appropriate meeting and training site for its volunteer members
