On February 6, 2025 at 6:08pm, the Fort St John RCMP received a report of a structure fire on the 8100 block of 100th Avenue, Fort St John.

Fort St John frontline RMCP officers attended the scene along with Fort St John Fire Service.

While front-line police officers were enroute, police received information that a potential suspect had been observed fleeing from the scene.  Additional front-line police officers attended and located the suspect and took them into custody without incident.

Fort St John RCMP secured the residence overnight in order to obtain a search warrant for further investigation.

The suspect remains in police custody at the time of writing.

The investigation is in the early stages but is believed to be an isolated incident, said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Fort St John RCMP Media Relations Officer. The results of the search warrant and fire investigation will direct the course of the investigation.
