On Feb. 19, 2025, Grande Prairie RCMP responded to assist Alberta Health Services Emergency Medical Services (EMS) where a child was suffering from a serious non-life-threatening knife wound who was treated at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, and later transported to the Children’s Stollery Hospital in Edmonton for further care. A second child was assessed minor wounds from a knife. To protect their identity, the children, who are both in stable condition, will not be named.
RCMP arrived to assist, and through the course of the investigation, (Alice) Michael Joseph Attwood (35), a resident of Grande Prairie, was charged with aggravated assault.
Attwood was brought before a Justice of the Peace, where Attwood was released with conditions and a court date of March 13, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie.
This investigation is still ongoing.
