The assault occurred around 4:30 Monday afternoon outside a shopping mall in the 3500 block of 8th Street East.
A group of young people confronted a person seated outside a store. The altercation escalated when a suspect used a machete to strike the victim. Police found a 16-year-old boy inside the mall with non-life threatening injuries.
Two 15-year olds were arrested on a nearby City Transit Bus nearby. The pair were arrested without incident and charged with assault.
The suspect with the machete remains at large. He was wearing glasses, a red hat, black plants with a light-coloured backpack over a black sweater.
