Hello there, West Central Online!
My name is Tristan Frenette and I have the lucky honour to have my placement for work experience at the Kindersley radio station. I'm looking forward to learning about work here at the station hands-on.
I am currently 17 and in grade 12 at Luseland Distract School. I also partake in extracurricular activities outside of school. Currently, I am in our school's 'Jam Club', which is a music-themed club where students with a passion for art and performance come together in different groups and practice a bunch of songs for a big performance near the end of the school year. This year I've doubled up and put myself in two of the groups. As of now, we plan to have our performance at the beginning of April or the middle of May. I am also in our school's High School Drama club where we are practicing a play that was written by one of the substitute teachers here.
The work experience course is about introducing the students to working in a workspace, as well as giving them ideas about what career interests them and what they may want to do after school. I chose radio and broadcasting out of my passion for both music and content creation, such as film and writing. I think this is a spectacular position for experience, and this is a great program for learning various skills and trades that may interest you later in life.
The course is also open to many different options. This year students are working in finance at the Credit Union in Luseland, in mechanics a the tire shop in Luseland, in electronics in Kindersley and more!
I am looking forward to coming in to work here every Monday and perhaps some extra days over Easter break and learning all about work here like broadcasting, writing articles and whatever else there is to offer here which is great for me as I'm still working out where I'd like to take my life going forward.
Thanks for reading. I can't wait to share what I'll learn along the way
