The Jim Dekowny case is one step closer to resolution.
Appearing by phone from Alberta, Dekowny pled guilty in Swift Current Provincial Court to fraud under $5,000.
The charges stem from his time as the former Executive Director of the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Health Care Foundation.
He is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing on April 23.
The crown originally charged Dekowny with fraud over $5,000.
His plea is for a summary conviction rather than an indictment.
Judge J.F. Jacbson accepted Dekowny's plea and set the date for sentencing while noting he would have to appear in person that day.
In describing the circumstances related to the plea, Regional Crown Prosecutor Curtis Wiebe indicated Dekowny was in a position of trust.
Wiebe stated an audit took place of the foundation's financials which turned up suspicious transactions where Dekowny would have used funds from the foundation for a fraudulent purpose.
He added one such transaction was purchasing a freezer for Dekowny's own business with money from a Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Health Care Foundation account.
Dekowny then agreed with the Crown's account of the events.
A summary conviction for fraud under $5,000 carries a maximum sentence of no more than two years less a day imprisonment.
