More than 16,000 voters in Provencher cast their ballots early ahead of the federal election.

Elections Canada reports that 16,478 voters took advantage of advance polls in the riding, part of a record-setting 7.3 million Canadians who voted early between April 18th and 21st. 

The 16,478 votes are up 14.7 per cent from the last general election in 2021 when there were 14,365 advance votes cast. However, since then, electoral boundaries have changed. 

According to preliminary estimates, the 7.3 million advance votes cast across Canada was up 25 per cent from the 5.8 million in 2021. Every province and territory in Canada saw an increase, except for Yukon. In Manitoba, there were 229,379 advance votes in this election, compared to 187,960 in 2021. That is up 22 per cent. 

Election day is Monday, April 28th.

In Provencher, the five candidates whose names will appear on the ballot are:

  • Ted Falk (Conservative Party of Canada)
  • Noel Gautron (People's Party of Canada)
  • Trevor Kirczenow (Liberal Party of Canada)
  • Blair Mahaffy (Green Party of Canada)
  • Brandy Schmidt (New Democratic Party) 

Meanwhile, in the 2021 election, there was a total of 50,256 votes cast in Provencher, with a voter turnout of 66.6 per cent.
