Eatonia Heritage Park will host Valve Cover Racing during their Show & Shine on June 21st from 10 AM to 4 PM. This new event will feature small cars that are made from the valve covers of real cars, with 4 wheels racing down an inclined track. Racers are encouraged to build their cars, however, a limited number of pre-built cars will be supplied at the event.
The cars are typically made using wheels from roller skates or skateboards that are mounted inside of the valve cover. It is important that the cars move completely forward and don't have any steering, or else they might run into the side of the track. The cars must also be no more the 10 pounds.
The cars will race in two rounds and alternate lanes each round. If there is a tie, then the cars will race in a final elimination round, where the lanes will be determined by a coin toss. Younger kids can bring any of their own toy cars to race, and racers are also able to donate their cars to the track.
Eatonia encourages and hopes everyone has fun building their Valve Cover racers and racing them, and says there may also be prizes in every age group for the fastest and most creative racers.
