Life-long Sherwood Park resident Anya Fehr is setting her way to volleyball success.

Fehr is currently on the U19 women’s Canada Cup team and has also been selected to play for the National Excellence Program in the fall for Volleyball Canada.

“It’s great. I was honestly so surprised but I was really excited and super happy,” said Fehr.

The 16-year-old is entering Grade 12 at Strathcona Christian Academy (SCA) and has committed to playing volleyball for the University of Calgary Dinos when she graduates.

Volleyball Canada is currently training in the Dinos facility.

“It's been awesome just having that first-hand experience living in residence and training here. It’s honestly been like the best experience I could have had.”

Her academic route is undetermined but she has an interest in the sciences.

Outside of school volleyball, she also plays for the Pandas Volleyball Team in Edmonton as a setter.

The Canada Cup tournament runs from July 21 to 24 at 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Jim Starlight Centre in the Tsuut’ina Nation, located just southwest of Calgary.

All 13 provinces and territories will be represented at The Canada Cup.
