Danny Plett, a musician from Steinbach, wrote quite a few songs during the pandemic, one of which is “Losing Myself in You.”
Plett says the song is about losing yourself to the vastness and greatness of the heavenly Father.
He tells the story behind filming the music video.
“We went out to some country road and it was kind of sunset time, and the light was really cool and the mosquitoes were unbelievable.”
Due to the mosquitoes and their lack of bug spray, they wanted to get the video done in just one take, which they managed to succeed at doing.
“It was very advantageous that we were able to do it in one take because the mosquitoes were quite prolific.”
He explains that he was happy to spend time with his son through filming, and that he was glad their lip-syncing strategy worked well.
“My son Jason, he had this little speaker hanging around his neck, and then he had his phone playing the song so I could hear it. And then he was filming as I was Lip syncing to the song and it worked out really good.”
As they filmed the video, they thought it would be neat to imitate “Yellow” by Coldplay’s music video.
Fun fact: at 3:48 in the video, a truck came by, which they had not planned on purpose.
"We weren't counting on this truck coming by but we figured, ah, we're just going to leave the truck in.”
He said that luckily the dust from the truck didn’t fall on him, since the breeze was blowing in the exact opposite direction from where he was.
"So that was good. So I didn't have to chew, you know, gravel or dust or anything like that.”
