Environment and Climate Change Canada says an Alberta Clipper will move into Saskatchewan Saturday night bringing a swath of mixed precipitation and strong winds to the southwest corner of the province.

Ice pellets and freezing rain are the primary hazards with this system beginning this evening and transitioning into light snow by Sunday morning.

Along with the mixed precipitation, southerly winds on tonight will shift to strong northwesterly by Sunday morning. There could be some gusts up to 70-80 km/h and possibly higher near the Cypress Hills.

Falling snow combined the strong winds may result in blowing snow tonight and Sunday before the system exits the region by Sunday evening.

Confidence regarding the track of this Alberta Clipper is slowly improving but still remains uncertain. Deviation in the track could result in changes in precipitation type and wind speeds.

Continue to monitor forecasts, as warnings may need to be added as this system develops.

Impacts from this system include:

-Icy roads, walkways and parking lots from freezing rain.

-Reduced visibilities when traveling on highways due to falling snow and blowing snow
