The Reeve for Emerson-Franklin continues to hope for a slow melt; however, Mother Nature continues to appear to have other ideas. With highs around 10 degrees Celsius forecast for today and tomorrow, the sun is sure to continue making short work of the snowpack.

Dave Carlson says municipal crews have removed snow piles from communities and remain busy opening drains and steaming iced-up culverts, paying special attention to the typical problem areas, in order to keep water flowing.

With the possibility of a top 10 flood for some locations along the U.S. portion of the Red River Basin, Carlson says the Municipality is beginning to make sandbags in order to have them on hand and ready to go if needed. He notes, once the rivers begin to flow a bit more freely, officials will have a better idea of what level of flood to expect in this part of the basin.
