Summer in the City in 2022.
Categories

School is almost out, which means summer events are ramping up. One of them is Summer in the City (SITC) which is happening this weekend in downtown Steinbach.

From Friday, June 16 to Sunday, June 18, Main St. will be packed with activities, food, shows, rides and entertainment.

On top of all the festivities, we will be there with Wendy’s Show Us Your Summer all weekend.

SITC Board Chair Audrey Harder says the community “should expect some of the same stuff,” but more.

"Seeing people, hearing the same sounds, smelling all the food, but then you'll be hearing and experiencing a little bit more,” Harder says. “We have more food trucks this year. We have more vendors this year. We have more rides this year. We have more acts. We have so much more this year compared to last year. It's just going to be amazing.”

A new addition to the weekend is Patio Parties at the MainStage, and home team Steinbach Pistons are having a beer garden near the cultures area.

For live music, Country artist Tim Hicks headlines Friday night, while AC/DC and Def Leppard tribute band will take the stage on Saturday night. Harder encourages the community to support all the artists.

“I think they really need to spend some time listening to our musicians during the day at the MainStage. That's all free music, free bands out there who are playing their hearts out,” she says.

Finally, she shares reminders and how to prepare for the event-packed weekend.

"Always make sure you have some water or something to drink with you because we're going to have some heat at some point,” she explains. “Sunscreen is really important, and a hat. If you're going to go on rides, make sure you have pockets with zippers or a place to put your stuff so you don't lose it everywhere. Keep things safe and just be ready to have a good time.”

This weekend, you can enter to win a golden ticket for a brand-new trailer from Steinbach Trailers and RV. Visit us in front of Scotiabank at SITC, take a selfie with the trailer, scan the QR code to submit your photo.

That’s not all, Wendy’s Show Us Your Summer is now on! This week, show us you and your family in relaxation mode for a chance to win a patio set from Giant Tiger.
