With Canada Day weekend coming up, Steinbach store hours will vary, so here is a list of what’s open and what’s closed on Canada Day weekend.

  • Clearspring Centre will be open from 10 AM to 6 PM.

  • Sobeys is open from 9 AM to 6 PM, but the pharmacy is closed.

  • Walmart is open from 9 AM to 6 PM, and Superstore's hours are from noon to 6 PM.

  • Canadian Tire will be closed for the day.

  • The Steinbach Aquatic Centre's public swim holiday hours are from 10 AM to noon, 1 PM to 3 PM and 4 to 6 PM.

  • Steinbach Community Compost Depots will be closed.

  • On Monday, July 3, the City of Steinbach offices are closed, and there will be no garbage and recycling cleanup.

On July 1, there will be many celebrations happening around the southeast.

Mayor Earl Funk, who also owns Earl’s Meat Market, says there are multiple reasons why he “loves” celebrating Canada Day.

“It's actually the day before my birthday. See, my birthday is July 2nd, and I was born a minute or two into July 2nd. So, I start off my birthday with fireworks on the 1st,” Funk explains.

Regarding business hours and closures on holidays, he says the answer all lands on “what’s best” for the business and community.

“Some are closed Saturdays, some are open Monday, vice versa,” he says. “You know what? Whatever works best for your business, right? For us, it works best to be closed on Saturday, in this case gives our staff two days in a row. We often don't get two days in a row, so we're very excited about this. At the end, it's just about giving good service to our residents, to our shoppers.”
