Manitou Beach and area residents are mounting a benefit event for the Little Manitou Art Gallery this coming Saturday, November 4.
A deal had been struck for the sale of the Gallery by owner Sarah McKen. After the couple had completed a move to a new location, the deal fell through leaving the challenge of financing winter utilities and municipal taxes. Sarah and her life partner Clayton have been staples of Manitou Beach for years, first opening a display gallery for artists to sell their wares, and later opening the grounds as a performance venue for some of the prairie’s finest musical acts.
The Little Manitou Art Gallery has been the anchor for well-established summer events such as the Manitou Beach Busking Festival, the Music Festival, and the Wonder of Words among others. Because the gallery had already been closed and McKen had relinquished local jobs that covered winter costs, the Gallery is in jeopardy.
Locals have set up a great evening of entertainment on November 4th with all the proceeds going to cover costs for the winter. A Go Fund Me Fundraiser has also been established with the proceeds going to the same cause. Patrons can donate at their Go Fund Me Site.
Tickets for the weekend event in support of the Little Manitou Art Gallery are available online here.
