A suspect and an EPS officer have been flown to Regina via air ambulance following a confrontation.

The series of events began this morning at around 7, when officers responded following a "serious incident", as EPS describes it.

An individual was then brought into custody and was taken to the Estevan Police Station for processing, according to EPS Chief Rich Lowen.

At 9:30, while being processed, an altercation took place between the individual and a police officer which resulted in serious injuries for both.

Both are being transported to Regina via air ambulance, as of about 11 a.m.

SERT has been notified and is assuming custody of the investigation along with RCMP Major Crimes. Weyburn Police Services is assisting with police duties. Lowen said there is no threat to the public.
