Amaranth RCMP looking for stolen electronics and jewelry 

Amaranth RCMP received a report of a break and enter into a residence in the 100 block of Kinosota Road South in Amaranth last Sunday.

Police say they took the call regarding the robbery on September 24th after the suspects made off with electronics and jewelry.

The RCMP asks that anyone with information about this incident call the Amaranth RCMP at 204-843-2309. 

Police are continuing to investigate this case.

Brandon man caught stealing cigarettes from Portage Business

Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report that a man had stolen some items from a business in the 300 block of Saskatchewan Avenue East on September 19th, just after midnight. 
Officers reportedly arrived on the scene and learned that the suspect had stolen cigarettes while threatening the worker before leaving.

The suspect, Brody Carr, 29, of Brandon, was located and arrested without incident later that morning. Carr is charged with Theft Under $5,000, Uttering Threats to a Person, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Failure to Comply with a Release Order. 

Another ice cream season melts away at 'What The Scoop?'

Although they will still be selling treats online, the doors to 'What's the Scoop?' will close to the public this coming Saturday.

Owner, Rhonda Lodwick says that the ice cream shop opens every year on May 1st and usually wraps up the season at the end of September.

"It's that time of year where we need to just close out and say goodbye."

Lodwick says that the season was good even though they had to deal with the Saskatchewan Avenue Rejuvenation Project affecting access to the store.

Portage RCMP and local firefighters respond to weekend rollover near Bagot

MacGregor Firefighters and Portage la Prairie RCMP officers were dispatched after a report of a collision on Highway 1 Saturday evening. 

Police say that the vehicle left the roadway in an attempt to avoid hitting a deer in Bagot.  According to RCMP, the driver did not sustain any injuries or require medical attention.

No other details were provided. 

Multiple PCI students have weapons seized in separate incidents 

Portage Collegiate Institute (PCI) has dealt with multiple episodes involving weapons over the last week.

Police say that the first incident occurred on September 22, as the school's RCMP School Liaison Officer (SLO) became aware that two students at the school were threatening other students and were known to have weapons. Attempts to locate those students were unsuccessful, according to police.

Portage RCMP search for missing teen 

Portage la Prairie RCMP is asking the public for assistance in locating a missing 13-year-old. 

Police say they received a report of a missing 13-year-old female from a residence located on 9th Street NW in the City of Portage la Prairie On September 21 at 10:30 a.m. 

According to RCMP, Tyeanna Daniels was last seen in her home on the evening of September 20.

Daniels is 5’3”, 85 lbs, with long dark brown hair and brown eyes. Police say that she may currently be in the City of Brandon.

Gimli RCMP find criminal stockpile of tens of thousands of dollars of items stolen from around province

Gimli RCMP found a stockpile of stolen items during the execution of a search warrant on a property in the RM of Gimli this week.

The search was made this past Wednesday (September 20) by the Gimli RCMP, Selkirk RCMP, and the Manitoba East District Criminal Response Enforcement Support Team as part of an ongoing investigation.

Portage RCMP charge woman going 30 kph over the limit and intoxicated

A Portage la Prairie RCMP officer stopped a driver on the bypass around Portage la Prairie and observed a vehicle travelling 130kph in a 100kph zone.

On September 17th, at 1:49 a.m., the officer initiated a traffic stop with a 30-year-old woman behind the wheel from Long Plain First Nation.

The driver was asked to provide a breath sample on a Roadside Screening Device to determine if she had consumed alcohol. The result of that test was a Fail. The driver was issued an Immediate Driving Prohibition.

Stride Credit Union donates $20,000 to STARS

Stride Credit Union's STARS Fundraiser at the Neepawa Golf & Country Club raised $20,000 last Thursday.

In 2021-22, STARS flew 773 missions, 26 of which were in the Neepawa area and 61 in the Portage region.

Macdonald woman charged by RCMP on multiple offences

Manitoba RCMP took several calls concerning property crime in the Lockport, St. Andrews and West St. Paul areas on Monday. All reports were involving the same two suspects.

On September 18, at approximately 8:00 a.m., a report came down to police of two suspects attempting to break into a business in Lockport. Police say the two suspects were scared off by people in the area and fled.
