Blowing snow and the bitter cold has been the main story for the weather forecast around the Humboldt area throughout January.
While both elements will appear this weekend, it will be temporary, and above seasonal temperatures are on the horizon.
Broncos ready to rumble with Hounds
The Humboldt Broncos will attempt to head into their eight-day break with another victory as they host the Notre Dame Hounds tonight.
Over their last four games, the Broncos have reeled off seven out of a possible eight points, leaving them in a tie for 7th place in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) standings with the Melville Millionaires.

The Humboldt Broncos hope to take care of business this week as they continue their pursuit of a playoff spot.
After picking up five out of six possible points last week, the Broncos will attempt to grab four points against the Nipawin Hawks and Notre Dame Hounds.
Even though both teams are below Humboldt in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) standings, the Broncos have faced some trouble with both teams this season.
Broncos forward Jacob Strizzi named forward of the week
Humboldt Broncos forward Jacob Strizzi earned a nod from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League as he was named the Bourgault Forward of the Week.
In three games last week, Strizzi scored three goals, with two of those goals ended up being game-winning-goals. The Vaughan ON product helped the Broncos earn their first win of 2025 after he picked up the overtime against Notre Dame last Wednesday.

Broncos earn three points in weekend set against North Stars
The Humboldt Broncos have won back-to-back games for the first time since November 9th thanks to a four-goal third period comeback, defeating the Battlefords North Stars 5-3 on Friday night.
Additionally, the Broncos comeback effort marked just the second time this season they were able to find victory when trailing heading into the third period. The last time they accomplished that feat was the same November 9th game against the Melville Millionaires.
All of those timestamps are now a thing of the past as a new streak begins.

Fresh off their first win of 2025 on Wednesday night against the Notre Dame Hounds, the Humboldt Broncos will embark on a key home and home set this weekend against the Battlefords North Stars.
The Broncos head into the weekend holding down the final playoff spot in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) standings at 34 points.
Humboldt hit by blowing snow as extreme cold is set to sweep through
A dangerous mix of heavy winds and some fresh snow were the ingredients that led to a blowing snow advisory that was issued throughout most of Saskatchewan including the Humboldt area on Thursday.
