Humboldt Golf Club charts course ahead at Annual General Meeting
On Tuesday night, the Humboldt Golf Club (HGC) held their Annual General Meeting as they looked back on their numbers and previewed on is shaping up to be an exciting year at the course.
A key event for the HGC’s schedule in 2025 will be the Saskatchewan Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championships in Humboldt from July 15-18.
Monthly Protective Services report
During Monday’s Humboldt City Council’s Executive Meeting, the monthly Protective Services report was discussed.
With the snow melting in April, that led to more people outside moving around and according to the Community Safety Officer’s report, more traffic complaints.
There have been several complaints regarding vehicles located at Water Ridge Park until 2-3 am.
Firefighters raise red flags over proposed changes from Sask Government to burning derelict buildings
There are growing concerns from firefighters in Saskatchewan about proposed changes to The Construction Codes Act from the Saskatchewan Government that would allow municipalities to dispose of derelict buildings by burning them down.
SaskPower to inspect nearly 120,000 wood poles this year
As a part of its annual maintenance program, SaskPower will be inspecting nearly 120,000 wood poles across the province.
The inspections will happen between May and October.
Also, crews will be testing approximately 10,000 overhead rural transformers and install wildfire protection equipment on 800 poles in high-risk areas in the north.

The summer sizzler parade will soon be back in Humboldt, and this year it's bringing the magic of Disney. It should be a celebration the whole community won’t want to miss.
Humboldt Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) will be overseeing the event. This will come after they organize the Santa Claus Parade during the Moonlight Madness.
Sweet Support: Tim Hortons Smiles Cookies raise over $27K for HDHF
Another successful Tim Hortons Smile Cookies campaign is in the books here in Humboldt.
During the week, $ 27,207.75 was raised from the Smiles Cookies, with the proceeds going towards the Humboldt District Health Foundation (HDHF).
On Monday afternoon, Tim Hortons presented a cheque to the HDHF.
Saskatchewan Roughriders training camp roster outlook
It was a Riderville revival last year as Head Coach Corey Mace was able to inject a cultural change, leading the Roughriders to a second-place finish in the West with a 9-8-1 record along with a home playoff game.
This year, the expectations will be heightened for the green and white as they try and win the first Grey Cup since 2013.

Road Closure: Main Street between 5th-6th Avenue on Monday, May 12
There will be a road closure on Main Street in Humboldt this Monday (May 12).
The section between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue will be closed to traffic.
A closure is needed to complete a planned water main repair.
The City of Humboldt apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks residents for their patience.
Strong start to seeding season
Seeding season is underway in Saskatchewan as the province’s Ministry of Agriculture has released the Crop Report for April 29 to May 5.
According to the report, 18 per cent of the 2025 crop has been planted which is above both the five-year average (2020-24) of 10 per cent and the ten-year (2015-24) average of 12 per cent.
SHA provides update on measles outbreak
Saskatchewan is grappling with a fast-growing measles outbreak, now part of a larger resurgence of the disease across North America, according to Dr. Saqib Shahab, Chief Medical Health Officer for the Ministry of Health.
As of May 7, 27 confirmed cases have been reported in Saskatchewan since March 14, with more than half—15 cases—emerging in just the last week. “Our case numbers are rising rapidly,” Dr. Shahab warned during a briefing on Thursday.
