The ice sparkled with vibrant energy on Saturday, March 1st, as the Winkler Skating Club’s highly anticipated 2025 Ice Show, Kaleidoscope of Colors, took over the Meridian Exhibition Centre’s Icon Arena. The annual showcase brought together skaters of all ages, dazzling a packed crowd with their skills, confidence, and passion for figure skating.

Residents at Gateway Resources in Winkler were treated to a delightful morning of storytelling as part of the celebration for “I Love to Read” month. The event brought together residents for a fun and engaging activity that emphasized the joy of reading.

A morning of beloved books

The residents enjoyed hearing a variety of stories, including Bears on Wheels, Who Would Win? Killer Whale vs. Great White Shark, and The Digging-est Dog. The atmosphere was full of laughter and excitement as the stories brought the group together.

Marc Moir and Laura Kathleen-Turner, the artistic directors of Looking Glass Theatre, bring their expertise to Morden with a new production of Mr. & Mrs. Nobody on Friday, February 28th at 7:00pm.

Monday morning I Love To Read month with Friesen's Corporation continued with Country 88 morning show host Ty Hildebrand visiting the grade 2 students at Southwood Elementary School in Schanzenfeld.

First off, what a great book from Friesen's to read to the kids, about finding what they love, and sharing their gift with the world.

The students were very curious about radio, and how it all works. We LOVE reading, and answering all the fun questions.

The I Love To Read month fun continues with Friesen's Corporation and Golden West as Country 88 morning show host Ty Hildebrand visited the grade 2 students of Maple Leaf Elementary School with Friesen's Bookbinder Julie Blatz to read "We Need Everyone" by Michael Champagne Redhead and illustrated by Tiff Bartel.

Not only did we read the book, but every single grade 2 student at Maple Leaf went home with a copy!
