For Winkler native Brian Krahn and his wife Clarissa, their hearts and minds are with the children of Guaymas, Mexico. This is where they have spent the past 14 years running an orphanage for abused and abandoned children.
Krahn, who came to Winkler for Thanksgiving Weekend, shared the life-altering experience that called him and Clarissa to dedicate their lives to helping children in Mexico.
Heritage church building in La Broquerie needing significant repairs
The St. Joachim Parish Church in La Broquerie is nearing its 125th anniversary. And, to ensure that the church building is around for many more years, a fundraising campaign has started that will help with some much-needed repairs.
Luc Grenier is President of the 125th ad hoc committee. He says the church along Principale Street was constructed in 1901. Grenier says it was a handful of parishioners that moved to the area, along with their priest who decided that a church building needed to be constructed. He notes almost all of the material was sourced locally.

Gabriel Mills was recently fired from his role of guest experience pastor at the Kenosha, Wisconsin campus of Journey Church. The news comes after Mills pleaded not guilty at a preliminary hearing to two counts of capturing an intimate representation without consent.
Founder of South Africa's largest congregation dies at 75
The founder of South Africa's largest congregation has died at the age of 75.
Ray McCauley was the founder and pastor of the Rhema Bible Church South Africa, a church that has more than 45,000 members.
McCauley's son, Joshua, released a statement on Tuesday announcing his death.
According to Joshua, his father had stepped back from active church duties but remained fully committed to serving the body of Christ.
"His enduring legacy as a servant leader will continue to impact communities far beyond his lifetime."

1,000 prisoners attend revival event, 50 baptized on the spot
Dozens of inmates, many serving life sentences, lined up to be baptized at a recent event hosted by God Behind Bars at Angola State Prison in Louisiana.
Over 1,000 inmates attended the event, making it one of the largest prison events in the ministry's history.
"We invited the ENTIRE STATE to join so that all the incarcerated can hear about the FREEDOM of Jesus," said God Behind Bars in a post on Instagram. " 9 prisons were bused in — including a female prison."
