An unplanned adventure across the country
On Monday morning, June 30, friends Lauren Laninga and Celina Peters unexpectedly set out on a cross-country road trip.
“We had been joking about it (this trip) for the past year,” says Laninga.
Both friends had similar summer schedules and thought the timing was as good as ever.
St Labre 200 races into action
July is racing by as the first weekend of the month brings Go-karting to the next level.
St Labre 200 brought Go-Karters together for a build day, and a race day featuring 100-lap heats and alumni races.
Rob Tetrault and his team from Tetrault Wealth have been attending this event for years.
Tetrault says that he has seen the event grow since the beginning.

The funeral service for Stephen Braun will be held Thursday, 11am at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield Street N, Winnipeg.
Caution urged as more heatwaves approach Southern Manitoba
After a sweltering start to July, southern Manitoba is getting relief from the summer scorch. Environment Canada issued a heat warning earlier this week, with daytime highs soaring into the mid-30s and humidex values pushing it well into uncomfortable territory at 40 and higher.
As we head into the weekend, Brian Proctor, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says cooler temperatures are on the horizon, though the reprieve will be short-lived.

Helga Wiens was one of about 5,000 people forced to leave after wildfires threatened the community. On June 25, residents from Flin Flon and nearby areas were allowed to return.

Summer day camps bring fun themes to St. Malo and Otterburne
Parents in the St. Malo and Otterburne areas looking for flexible, affordable summer activities for their children have a new option this year — pop-up party day camps hosted by Rat River Recreation Commission.
The camps run every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., starting in early July and continuing until the end of August. Programs are held at the curling club in Otterburne and at St. Malo School.

The three-time Stanley Cup champion, who last played an NHL game more than two years ago, was introduced Friday as the newest member of his hometown Winnipeg Jets, donning a jersey with his signature No. 19 at a team press conference.
The Jets announced their intention to acquire the 37-year-old centre last month, but it only became official this week with Toews signing a one-year deal worth US$2 million, plus performance bonuses tied to games played and playoff success.
