Snowy weather sees calls made to police
With the deluge of snow that has fallen this week, the Moose Jaw Police Service received a number of calls that may have been related to the weather conditions.
on Tuesday, police responded to a two-vehicle collision on 4th Avenue NW at Caribou Street, which resulted in $20,000 of damages, two tows, and a ticket being issued.
Yesterday a semi was also removed after it was called in for blocking Diefenbaker Drive at Highland Road, and on the 1200 block of 9th Ave NE, a car was towed out of the ditch by another vehicle.
Be Aware on area highways this morning
The Highway Hotline is reporting a number of treacherous road conditions in the province this morning.
On Highway 1 between Morlach and Regina, the road is showing as snow-covered. Travel is not recommended from Regina through to the Manitoba border on Highway 1.
Highway 11 is travel not recommended between Regina and Bethune.
Highway 39 is travel not recommended from Pasqua and south to Midale.
Highway 2 south of Bushell Park is showing as snow-covered.
Clearing things up: Moose Jaw snow removal bylaws
It took a little while to get here, but the first real snowfall of the season is upon us, dropping several centimeters of snow on Moose Jaw in short order.
Now that the first real taste of winter has arrived, the question of how to deal with it remains, and for some, finding out who is responsible for doing so.
Thankfully, the City of Moose Jaw has bylaws on the books pertaining to proper, safe snow removal.
SaskAlert conducting test this afternoon
SaskAlert, the provincial emergency alert system, will be conducting a test of their services this afternoon.
Scheduled for 1:55 p.m., test alerts will appear on television, radio, wireless devices and through the SaskAlert app.
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is issuing the test via the federal public alert system, Alert Ready.
'Mamma Mia' coming to Moose Jaw Centre for Arts & Culture
The ABBA-inspired musical ‘Mama Mia!’ will be coming to the Moose Jaw Centre for Arts & Culture Thursday, Nov. 21 through Sunday, Nov. 24.
Vanier Theatre Productions is putting on the show, with performances on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m., and a matinee on Sunday starting at 2 p.m.
14th annual Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade returns Dec. 8
The Santa Claus Parade will be returning to Moose Jaw on Dec. 8, and applications are currently being accepted for participants.
Registered participants will be asked to form up at the old Zellers parking lot starting at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 8, with the parade starting at 6 p.m. at the top of Main Street.
Saskatchewan MLA says he's ready to serve as new Minister of Agriculture
The Saskatchewan Party has announced their cabinet for their upcoming term, with the southeast seeing some new representation.
Daryl Harrison, the MLA for the Cannington constituency, will be serving as the Minister of Agriculture.
Harrison says that he's honoured to serve, bringing with him first-hand experience in the industry.

The Moose Jaw Warriors continue preparations for tomorrow night’s game at the Moose Jaw Events Centre against the conference-leading Saskatoon Blades. Puck drop is at 7, and you can catch all the action on Country 100 with James Gallo, starting with the pregame show at 6:40.
The Blades were 5-3 winners over Medicine Hat last night. One other game had the Tri City Americans beating the Broncos, in Swift Current, 3-1. The Americans play the Pats, in Regina, tonight.

A ‘lot of ground’ remains between Canada Post, workers as strike talks progress
Canada Post and the postal workers union found slivers of consensus Tuesday amid talks with a special mediator, but "a lot of ground" remains between them on the key concerns as a countrywide strike entered its fifth day.
“On smaller issues, we were able to find some progress,” said Canada Post spokesman Jon Hamilton in a phone interview.
"The special mediator has helped facilitate those discussions. So we're going to continue to be at it. We're committed to getting collective agreements," he said, adding that arbitration is off the table for now.
