After 44 years of ensuring that families in the Southeast have food to put on the table, Hank Klassen of South East Helping Hands officially retired on December 31st, 2024. Months since his departure, his absence at the organization is still bittersweet, but the gratitude for such an amazing person remains.

 “We've been very encouraged by seeing even grandparents coming in to get machines ready for their grandchildren, encouraging the generations ahead to also expand in this craft.” 

That’s what Marge Redekopp, co-owner of Triple-S Sewing Machines with her husband Corny, says about the pair’s new family-run business in Winkler that is about to celebrate its grand opening on April 15th.

A typical day in the Leparq Pizzeria kitchen begins several hours before opening, with the mixing, portioning and proofing of the sourdough.

“We prepare our sourdough fresh every day, ensuring consistently high quality and flavour,” says Sheila Cabildo. “Meanwhile, a pot of milk slowly transforms into rich, creamy ricotta cheese. We also carefully wash and prepare our salad ingredients in advance.”

For the last two years, the team at Humboldt Co-op Agro has been planning something big!

The secret’s out – the new Humboldt Co-op Fertilizer Shed is officially open! 

“It’s a really unique experience for kids to get away from home, get away from distractions and all the things that they do regularly. Camp is a great place for kids to get outside, be in nature, and do some activities that they wouldn’t normally get to do.”
