RCMP have now laid charges after being called on Friday to a home in Steinbach where they found the body of a 69-year-old man. 

Police says Savannah Dueck is the 34-year-old woman who was taken into custody on Friday. She has now been charged with Second Degree Murder. 

Dueck will appear in Winnipeg court on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. 

On July 29, 2022, at approximately 3:00 pm, Steinbach RCMP received a report of a deceased male inside a residence on Whitby Crescent in Steinbach.

Officers responded immediately and located the 69-year-old male. His death has been determined to be a homicide. 

A 34-year-old female was in the residence when officers arrived. She was arrested for the homicide and remains in police custody.

More than a dozen people have fallen victim to a scam over the past six days that has resulted in significant losses.

More than a dozen people have fallen victim to a scam over the past six days that has resulted in significant losses.

In effort to discourage speeding, Manitoba RCMP released details of a July 15 incident.

On that Friday night at 9:15 pm, an RCMP officer was driving east on Highway 23 and observed a vehicle travelling westbound going 185km/hr. The officer pulled onto the shoulder to turn around, and the vehicle sped past the police vehicle, going 211 km/hr.

A quick-moving storm rolled through the southeast in the early hours of Tuesday. It brought with it close to an inch of rain in most places.

Environment Canada is forecasting a small chance of more rain this week and then a hot and sunny August Long Weekend.

Canada's annual inflation rate spiked to 8.1 per cent in June according to new data from Statistics Canada (Stats Can). It's the largest yearly change in 39 years.

The climbing inflation rate came largely from gas prices, which were up over 50 per cent when compared to a year ago, Stats Can says in its report on Wednesday, July 20. Excluding the cost of gasoline, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the country was up by 6.5 per cent.

As predicted, the second wave of storms thundered through the southeast Tuesday afternoon.

Teulon, in the Interlake, has seen the most rain in Manitoba so far today at 114.3 mm or 4.5 inches.

A large storm system brought rain, lightning and thunder to the southeast Tuesday.

The forecast calls for more rain throughout the day as another system will follow the one that arrived in the early morning hours.

Kayla Bilous is a meteorologist with Environment Canada and says the main system will push eastward into Ontario today, but another system is hot on its heels.
