Peace Regional RCMP lay charges in break and enter

On Dec. 23, 2024, Peace Regional RCMP responded to an alarm call for a break and enter to a business in the area of 100 Street, in Peace River. 

While responding, RCMP located Tanner Hatter (22), a resident of Peace River, nearby with items taken from the business.

Upon review of the footage, Hatter was seen taking items from the store after unlocking a door earlier in the day, and then he returned later in the night through that same unlocked door to take more items from the business and businesses surrounding.

Multiple tire slashings overnight reported in Grande Prairie

On Jan. 7, 2025, Grande Prairie RCMP responded to four reports where tires had been slashed on vehicles in approximately the areas between 102 Street to 100 Street, and 104 Ave to 107 Ave in Grande Prairie, sometime throughout the night of Jan 6 to morning of Jan 7, 2025.

Suspect(s) are unknown and RCMP have no footage available yet.

RCMP are requesting any businesses, residences or those with dashcam footage in that area, to check their footage and contact RCMP should you believe your footage may be helpful in identifying the individual(s) involved. 

RCMP catch property thieves in the act

On January 4, 2025 at 3:52am, the Fort St John RCMP, received a report of two people believed to be stealing from a residential construction site located on the 8900 block of 112th Avenue, Fort St John.

Fort St John RCMP front-line police officers immediately attended and located the two suspects loading wood material into a trailer attached to a Dodge pickup truck.

Both suspects were arrested without incident.

The female was released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date of February 25, 2025.

Sisters Annie F. Downs and Tatum Green turn personal tragedy into healing resource

Author and speaker Annie F. Downs has written a children's book together with her sister, Tatum Green, in hopes of helping young families deal with grief and loss. 

"My youngest son T.J. was born with some significant health issues and we knew we wouldn't have him for long but we didn't know how long," said Tatum. "He lived for 56 days before he passed away and in that time we really wanted a resource to be able to walk our two-year-old son through losing his little brother."

Grace Community Church asks for prayers as pastor MacArthur remains hospitalized

A well-known pastor is in need of prayer as he continues to deal with a series of health issues that have kept him from the pulpit since the second half of 2024.

Grace Community Church elder and staff pastor Tom Patton updated congregants on Sunday saying that pastor John MacArthur, 85, has required a number of surgeries and his recovery has been slower than expected with occasional setbacks affecting his heart, lungs and kidneys.

As Liberal party brass begins to chart course for an expedited race to find Justin Trudeau's successor, potential contenders are weighing whether or not to join the fray -- including former central banker Mark Carney.

The former Bank of Canada governor issued a statement Monday evening saying he is encouraged by support he has heard, and that he's considering his decision with family over the next few days.

Former Montreal MP Frank Baylis declared his intent to enter the race in an interview Monday with The Hill Times.
