The law of supply-and-demand is something we face every day. Because there are those who need, there must also be those who provide. There are employers and employees. There are counsellors and counselees. There are teachers and teachees (I couldn't resist).
But it breaks down when it comes to refugees. There aren't enough "refugers" to meet the demand.
Three people deceased after motor vehicle collision near Beaverlodge
This morning, at approximately 5:17 a.m., Beaverlodge RCMP received a report of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 43, near Range Road 113. Officers attended and located a three vehicle fatal motor vehicle collision. Two occupants, a 21-year-old male and 48-year-old female, from one of the vehicles were declared deceased. One occupant, a 44-year-old male, of the second vehicle was also declared deceased. The third driver received no apparent injuries.
B.C. port employers issue lockout notice in labour dispute with foremen union
Ports in British Columbia could potentially be paralyzed again starting next week, as the latest labour dispute has triggered a provincewide lockout notice from employers against a union of more than 700 foremen.
The BC Maritime Employers Association says in a statement that it will "defensively" lock out members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 514 starting Monday at 8 a.m., shutting down all cargo operations provincewide but leaving cruise ships and operations for grain vessels unaffected.
Whitecourt RCMP investigate a pedestrian hit and run
On Oct. 24, 2024, at 3:30 p.m., Whitecourt RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle that failed to stop after colliding with a pedestrian at the intersection of 52 Avenue and 47 Street in the Town of Whitecourt. The 19 -year- old female pedestrian was transported to hospital by a co-worker where she was treated and later released with nonlife threatening injuries. The suspect vehicle is described as:
New Regional Fire Training Centre opens in County of Grande Prairie
The County Regional Fire Service, in partnership with the City of Grande Prairie and Municipal District (MD) of Greenview, made a significant step in enhancing regional emergency preparedness with a state-of-the-art Fire Training Centre. The grand opening of the new facility took place at the County Dunes Fire Station on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Raising funds for Grande Prairie Cenotaph restoration
Grande Prairie Legion #54 will be hosting an Open Mic Jam Session to help raise funds for the restoration and beautification of the Cenotaph.
It's going to be a fun night of entertainment from some of Grande Prairie's amazing musicians.
The Open Mic Cenotaph Fundraiser will take place at the Legion on November 9, 2024.
Doors will open to the public at 4pm, Music from 5-11pm, and the kitchen will be open from 6-9pm.
Serious motor vehicle collision located north of Beaverlodge
Beaverlodge RCMP is currently on scene at a serious motor vehicle collision located north of Beaverlodge on Highway 43.
The highway is expected to be closed for several hours, and traffic is being diverted.
10,000 students pack Texas arena to lift the name of Jesus
Over 10,000 college students filled the stands of a Texas arena this week to worship Jesus.
The free Unite US event happened Tuesday evening at Reed Arena in College Station, Texas.
"We will never take for granted the way God has shown up– night after night, university after university," said Unite US in a post on Facebook.
Unite US is a movement of college students united to lift the name of Jesus. Tuesday's event closed off its fall semester tour.
