A renewed mind

2 Corinthians 10:11-12

No hypocrisy, no competition. Wouldn't that be refreshing to live such a life? It all comes to those with a "renewed mind"...those who determine they are going to allow the Spirit of God to invade all those walls and towers, capturing the guards that have kept Him at arm's length all these years.

Canola growers encouraged to scout for blackleg

Blackleg is a disease in canola mainly caused by the fungus Leptosphaeria maculans. It’s a serious disease that affect canola plants in the seedling stage by attaching to the stems and working up the stem as it grows, inhibiting the movement of water and nutrients within the plant. It can cause upwards of 50% yield reduction in severe cases. Blackleg was first spotted in western Canada in 1975 in north-east Saskatchewan. 

UPDATE: Grande Prairie RCMP investigating found human remains

UPDATE:

Grande Prairie RCMP have identified the person who was found deceased on Oct. 21, 2024, as being 35-year-old Megan Butler.  

The investigation remains open at this time and Grande Prairie RCMP encourage anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact Police. 

The RCMP sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Survivors call on Canada to criminalize residential school denialism

Residential school survivors are calling on Canada to criminalize residential school denialism, echoing one of the findings in a report about unmarked graves and burial sites associated with the institutions.

Doug George, a survivor of the Mohawk Institute, said Canadians need to acknowledge the schools' place in history and to ensure the children who died are not silenced.

Ring the bells this Christmas

Grande Prairie Salvation Army is gearing up for the Christmas season’s annual Kettle Campaign, set to kick off on November 14th. This community fundraiser supports essential services year-round, with all proceeds staying in the local area.

For the second time in five seasons, the Los Angeles Dodgers are Major League Baseball champions. 

The Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in game five, 7-6 with relief pitcher, Blake Treinen securing the win. 

Following the victory, Treinen said he was feeling joy. "Overwhelming joy, God is absolutely good. I have to give a shout-out to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for this moment."

Foreign affairs minister seeks support for plan to return deported Ukrainian children

Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly says she hopes countries from around the world will support a plan to bring back Ukrainian children who have been deported to Russia since the war in Ukraine began nearly three years ago. 

Joly urged more than 70 delegations attending a ministerial conference in Montreal on Wednesday to make a “strong pledge” to ensure children and other Ukrainian civilians and prisoners of war are returned home. 

'Not going to play their games': Singh won't help Tories, Bloc topple the Liberals

New Democrats will not cave to demands from the Bloc Québécois and Conservative leaders to help them bring down the Liberal government, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said Wednesday. 

His party is now all that stands between Justin Trudeau's Liberals and an early election, with the other two opposition parties pledging to try to topple the minority government at the next opportunity. 

On Tuesday, Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet said he will make good on his threat to work with the other opposition parties to bring the Liberals down with a non-confidence vote.
