96% of County of GP residents believe their quality of life is good

The results are in, and County of Grande Prairie residents overwhelmingly report a high level of satisfaction with the quality of life in the County, feel the region is safe, and that they receive good value for taxes. This year marks the first time the County has reached out to residents through an online Citizen Satisfaction Survey, after conducting telephone surveys in 2011, 2014 and 2021. 

Farmers anxious as carbon price carve out bill faces uncertain future

Canadian farmers may have to wait months to find out if they'll owe thousands of dollars for carbon pricing this year. 

Legislation designed to exempt farms from the levy on natural gas and propane remains mired in political conflict.

Kyle Larkin, the executive director of the Grain Growers of Canada, says farmers have already waited for years to see if they'll get relief.

All parties but the Liberals voted last year on a bill to provide an eight-year exemption on natural gas and propane used for heating farm buildings and drying grain.

A mysterious plant health issue impacting chickpeas continues to leave researchers stumped

Dr Michelle Hubbard a Research Scientist with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Swift Current is working with a team of researchers across the prairies to try and find out what's happening.

The emerging health issue first started showing up on chickpea plants in 2019 in the Assiniboia and Coronach areas.

The symptoms vary from leaf tip chlorosis and wilting all the way to complete plant death.

'God has done incredible work': Pastor shot in the head while street preaching returns to church

A pastor who was shot in the head while street preaching in Arizona is back up on his feet. 

After months of being in hospital, 26-year-old Hans Schmidt returned to church. 

"We serve a miracle-working God. He walks, he talks, he even plays the drums," said his wife Zulya in a post on Instagram.

To bring awareness to adoption and foster care, a pastor from Missouri ran 153 marathons in a row, unofficially breaking a world record. 

Malachi O'Brien and his wife have four biological children and two adopted children that they fostered to start. O'Brien understands the importance of family surrounding the vulnerable as he was adopted by his aunt and uncle when he was just three years old.
