Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.

Some crops have been struggling with the excess moisture

Farmers have been dealing with a real mix of weather this year, from isolated heavy rains, to strong winds, hail and even a few tornado sightings. 

Anne Kirk, the Cereal Crop Specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, says its been fairly wet in many areas of the province.

The weekly crop report shows peak wind speeds at the Manitoba Agriculture Weather Station at Rivers  hit 113 km/hr on June 12. Precipitation for the past seven days ranged from 7.8 mm to 54.8 mm (Table 1)

Grain Growers ask farmers and consumers to help protect the family farm

Prairie farmers are being encouraged to let their thoughts be known on the impact the changes to the Capital Gains will have on their operations when it comes into effect June 25th.

The Grain Growers of Canada have set up a site "protectfamilyfarms.ca"  for people to sign a petition and register to email their MP on the damage  Ottawa's proposed changes will have on family farms.

$10,000 grant awarded to Grande Prairie for tree planting initiative

The City of Grande Prairie has received a $10,000 grant from Tree Canada’s Community Tree Grants program, made possible through CN’s EcoConnexions - From the Ground Up program. The funding supports the continuation of community tree planting efforts, bringing environmental and social benefits to the city.

Bridge maintenance south of Grande Prairie may cause travel delays

Drivers are being advised that bridge maintenance is taking place today southbound on Hwy 40 at the Wapiti River bridge, 10km south of Grande Prairie.

Possible delays can be expected throughout the day and evening till 8pm tonight.

Expect lane closures and speed reduced to 50km/h.

NATO secretary-general urges Ottawa to meet its defence spending target

Canada needs to meet NATO's minimum defence spending target, and present a plan on how it will reach it as a way to show authoritarian regimes that Western allies are aligned, said the alliance's secretary general on Wednesday.

Numbers NATO released this week show Canada is expected to spend 1.37 per cent of its gross domestic product on defence this year, well below the two per cent target.

'Pray for those who are displaced and hungry': Honouring World Refugee Day

Today is World Refugee Day, a day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe. 

"There are 120 million people in our world today who are displaced from their homes," said Stefan Epp-Koop, senior manager of humanitarian programming at Canadian Foodgrains Bank. "They are displaced because of conflict, because of natural disasters, because of economic crises, and have been forced to leave their homes." 

According to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, there are more refugees and displaced people in the world in 2024 than there have ever been before. 

Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham among winners at 2024 BMI Christian Awards

Many Christian songwriters and music publishers were celebrated on Wednesday night at the 2024 BMI Christian Awards. 

The 25 most-performed Christian songs included, 'Fear is Not My Future,' 'God is in This Story,' 'Heart of God,' 'Hymn of Heaven,' 'Love Me Like I Am,' 'Rest on Us,' 'Who I Am' among others. 

Brandon Lake's 'Gratitude' was named the 2024 Song of the Year. The track features raw honesty written by Dante Bowe and Ben Hastings. It received nominations from the 2023 GMA Dove Awards for Song of the Year and Worship Recorded Song of the Year.
