Large donation brings Kindersley's Kids Academy ELC closer to opening its doors
The Kindersley Kids Academy Early Learning Centre (ELC) fundraiser has received a significant boost thanks to a $100,000 donation from Synergy Credit Union
The cheque was presented on April 3. In recognition of the contribution, Synergy Credit Union will receive naming rights for the building’s staff room.
Caton making sixth run at federal office
There will be a familiar face on the federal election campaign trail.
William Caton is running for the Liberal Party in Swift Current-Grasslands-Kindersley.
"We're so conservative where I live in the southwest corner," Caton said. "I really don't like (Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre)'s attitude about things or his policies. I just thought it was time to stand up and talk about the things that I thought are important."

Deborah “Deb” Hearn (nee Blender) of Aquadeo, SK, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the age of 66 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Deb grew up in Sturgis, SK, until she married the love of her life, Brian, after just a few weeks of knowing him. She was a Jill of all trades and at one time had 12 jobs until she took over Chatters, a coffee shop in the Kindersley Mall. She was able to connect with everyone and everyone who knew her learned something from her.
Two dead after Friday rollover near Swift Current
Two people are dead after a rollover on Highway #1, west of Swift Current.
RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover on April 4th at 5:35 PM.
EMS declared a 61-year-old female passenger from Redcliffe, Alberta, dead at the scene.
The second passenger, a 68-year-old man from Redcliffe, later died in hospital.
Police say the driver was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Three men face multiple charges following armed robbery in North Battleford
Three men have been charged following a robbery involving a firearm at a business along Highway 16 in North Battleford on the night of April 5th.
Battlefords RCMP say they responded around 10:40 p.m. to a report of a robbery. Investigators allege three suspects entered the business, threatened employees with a gun and assaulted one staff member, who was later treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the suspects fled with cash, electronics, and various ID and financial cards in a vehicle heading east on Highway 16.
Sask. budget boosts funding for short line railways by nearly 90 per cent
The Saskatchewan government is nearly doubling its investment in short line railways, a move being welcomed by industry leaders who say it will improve safety, infrastructure, and economic resilience across rural parts of the province.
The 2025-26 provincial budget includes a $470,000 increase to the Short Line Railway Improvement Program (SRIP), bringing the total annual funding to $1 million. The money will be distributed among 13 short line railways operating in Saskatchewan.

Ottawa police name suspect in Parliament Hill lockdown incident
Ottawa police have released the name of the person they say was behind a massive security incident on Parliament Hill over the weekend.
Police say Tyler Hall-Worthington, a 31-year-old Ottawa man, has been charged in connection with the lockdown Saturday afternoon at East Block, a building in the parliamentary precinct that mainly houses offices for senators and their staff.
An Ottawa police spokesperson told The Canadian Press that the suspect was still in custody as of Monday morning.
