Man charged in murder of Lethbridge woman found near Oyen
Oyen, Alta. — A Vulcan, Alta., man has been charged with second-degree murder following the discovery of a Lethbridge woman’s body near Oyen.
RCMP reported that on September 17, 2024, officers received a tip about personal items found scattered along a rural road near Oyen. Upon searching the area, police located the body of a 28-year-old woman from Lethbridge. Her identity is protected under a publication ban.
Saskatchewan RCMP report rise in intimate partner and family violence rates
Rates of intimate partner violence (IPV) and family violence in Saskatchewan exceeded both provincial and national averages in 2023, according to newly released data from the Saskatchewan RCMP.
The RCMP reported 813 incidents of IPV and 890 cases of family violence per 100,000 people last year, compared to provincial rates of 710 and 741 per 100,000, respectively. These figures are part of a nationwide increase in such violence, as highlighted in a report by the Canadian Centre for Justice and Community Safety Statistics released on October 24, 2024.

Holiday Smile Cookies are back in support of Kindersley resource centre
Tim Hortons’ Holiday Smile Cookie campaign has officially begun, with 100 percent of proceeds from each cookie sold going to local charities and community organizations across Canada.
This week’s campaign in Kindersley will support the Early Years Family Resource Centre, a local non-profit that provides families of young children with access to bonding resources and educational clinics. Smile Cookies are priced at $1.50, with half of the proceeds directed to the Resource Centre and the other half supporting the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

Elizabeth Middle School is set to dazzle audiences with its production of Disney’s Aladdin JR., running from November 26 to 28 at 7 p.m. each evening.
