Carney says Canada 'has what the world wants' at a critical time
Prime Minister Mark Carney pitched Canada as a reliable trading partner that "has what the world wants" before an international audience Monday in New York City.
Addressing the Council on Foreign Relations think tank before attending the UN General Assembly, Carney said Canada has the resources, talent and ingenuity the world needs in a time of political and economic turbulence.
"This is not a transition. This is a rupture," he said. "This is a sharp change in a short period of time, driven by a variety of factors. We have a determination to rise up and meet this."

Warman RCMP ask for help locating missing woman last seen in June
RCMP are asking the public for help in locating a missing 42-year-old woman who was last seen nearly three months ago.
Police say Dianne Penner was last spotted on June 26 at a residence in Langham, Sask. She was reported missing to Warman RCMP on Sept. 19.
Since then, officers have been checking locations Penner is known to frequent and following up on tips, but she has not been found.
Penner is described as five-foot-eight, weighing 110 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark-coloured hoodie.
Groundwork begins on major lithium project near Stoughton
Groundwork has officially begun on a new lithium demonstration plant just southwest of Stoughton, a project poised to test the viability of large-scale lithium production in southeast Saskatchewan.
The facility, known as Project Aurora, is being developed by EMP Metals and its partner, Saltworks Technologies. The project is one of the first to receive support from the provincial government's new Saskatchewan Critical Mineral Innovation Incentive.

Quick action limits damage in Laporte-area combine fire
Emergency crews were called to a combine fire west of Laporte on Sunday afternoon.
The Chesterfield, Eatonia, and Newcombe (CEN) fire crews were dispatched around 4 p.m. after reports of a blaze on farm equipment.
Officials say the farmer was able to use their own equipment to largely contain the fire on the combine’s header, minimizing damage before crews arrived.
CEN firefighters assisted in putting out a field fire sparked by the incident and ensured the scene was safe.
No injuries were reported.
Kindersley golf course primed for irrigation upgrades; still seeking support
A major infrastructure project is about to break ground at the Kindersley Regional Park Golf Course. The purchase of a state-of-the-art irrigation system was announced in the spring prior to the course opening, and that equipment is rolling in with the end of the season nearing.
Kyle RCMP handle theft, collisions, and suspicious activity
Kyle RCMP dealt with multiple complaints in the area between September 12 and 18, 2025, including theft, suspicious vehicles, traffic offences, and minor collisions.
On September 13, RCMP began an investigation into the theft of a purse from a rural location in the RM of Lacadena. On September 15, officers responded to a suspicious vehicle north of Kyle on Highway 4, and another suspicious person complaint came in on September 18.
