Defence alleges fabricated assault claims in Rosetown human trafficking trial

Rosetown, Sask. — Following a Jordan’s Principle ruling on Wednesday, defence lawyer Michael Owens resumed cross-examination of the complainant, a Bangladeshi woman protected by a publication ban, in the ongoing human trafficking trial involving accused Mohammed Masum and Sohel Haider.

RCMP respond to collisions, wellness checks and lost ID in Macklin area

MACKLIN, Sask. – Macklin RCMP handled a variety of calls from May 27 to June 3, including a vehicle collision, wellness checks and a lost ID report.

Officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a deer. No injuries were reported and the matter was documented for insurance purposes.

Police also spoke with an individual in relation to a probation order.

RCMP conducted two separate wellbeing checks during the week, both requested by concerned family members. In both cases, officers confirmed the individuals were safe.

Fires rage, support rises: Red Cross appeal matched by Governments

The federal and Saskatchewan governments are teaming up with the Canadian Red Cross to deliver support to communities displaced by wildfires across the province.

On Tuesday, the Government of Canada announced it will match donations made to the Canadian Red Cross 2025 Saskatchewan Wildfires Appeal. The matching funds will be retroactive to May 30 and will continue for 30 days.

In addition, the Government of Saskatchewan will immediately provide $15 million to the Red Cross to work with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency in delivering aid to wildfire evacuees.

Canada-wide warrant leads to arrest of PEI man in Lloydminster in child luring investigation

A Nova Scotia man has been charged following an RCMP investigation into allegations of child exploitation involving explicit messages exchanged over Snapchat.

Lloydminster RCMP say they received a complaint on March 18, 2025, about an adult sending sexually explicit images to a minor via the social media app. Investigators allege the suspect also travelled to the Lloydminster area with the intent to commit further sexual offences.

Saskatchewan Day Of Caring For Wildfire Evacuees on Thursday, June 12, is a collaborative effort that will see radio stations across Saskatchewan dedicating airtime throughout the day to raise funds and awareness for those impacted by the 2025 Saskatchewan wildfires.

Funds raised during the Radiothon will go directly to the Canadian Red Cross 2025 Saskatchewan Wildfires Appeal.
