An ice dam is when water freezes into ice on a part of a roof and builds up to the point of potentially causing damage by blocking the flow of water off of a roof.

City crews tackle ice buildup and drainage as temperatures rise and fall
The City of Estevan’s Roads and Drainage Division is working to keep streets and sidewalks safe as winter conditions continue. Crews are steaming frozen catch basins and culverts to prevent blockages and ensure proper drainage.
So far this season, the city has seen few problem areas, but staff remain ready to respond as needed. With warmer temperatures expected this weekend, residents are advised to avoid using alleys, which may become more difficult to navigate due to melting snow and ice.

Estevan police respond to disturbances, well-being check and package dispute
Estevan police responded to multiple calls on Feb. 27, including disturbances, a well-being check, and a report of a misdelivered package.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the central part of the city. The individuals involved were arguing over property and living arrangements. Officers mediated the situation, and one person returned to their own residence.
Possible Keystone expansion welcomed by southeast oil industry
Recently, talks have begun about restarting Keystone XL between Canada and the US, a pipeline which went through regulatory and political troubles over the last decade.
The current Keystone pipeline runs through the Canadian Prairies and down to the US, with the XL expansion adding another line coming from Alberta.

After a busy few games in some of their leagues, the Estevan Curling Club is now gearing up for a busy weekend.
Estevan will play host to the Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association's Regional SR Doubles & SR Boys curling matchups, set for today and tomorrow.
