Recently, talks have begun about restarting Keystone XL between Canada and the US, a pipeline which went through regulatory and political troubles over the last decade.

The current Keystone pipeline runs through the Canadian Prairies and down to the US, with the XL expansion adding another line coming from Alberta.

After a busy few games in some of their leagues, the Estevan Curling Club is now gearing up for a busy weekend.

Estevan will play host to the Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association's Regional SR Doubles & SR Boys curling matchups, set for today and tomorrow.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) is launching the President’s Awards to recognize achievements in public safety throughout the province.

The SPSA is seeking nominations for both youth and organizations that have demonstrated leadership in emergency preparedness.

The nomination deadline is March 31, 2025, with an awards ceremony set for the spring in Prince Albert. Nominations can be submitted at saskpublicsafety.ca.

The unseasonably warm temperatures we've experienced over the past week may soon be joined by less-than-ideal weather as a system is overhead in the southeast.

Temperatures will be closer to the freezing point heading into the weekend, and some precipitation could potentially freeze the area.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Stephen Berg says that after that weather there will be a bit of a break on the weekend.

The federal government is extending the timeline for Ukrainians in Canada who fled Russia's invasion to apply for new or renewed temporary visas by one year. 

The new deadline to apply for new or renewed work and study permits under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel program is March 31, 2026.

Nearly 300,000 Ukrainians came to Canada under the program, which said they had to arrive by March 31, 2024. 

The Estevan Early Years Family Resource Centre is making it easier for families to stay active with the Play It Forward Community Lending Closet, a free resource offering sports equipment, outdoor gear, and games to borrow.

Sydney Wanner from the Family Centre said the idea came from a desire to make activities more accessible.

Fresh off the release of his latest single I Wanna Go Home, Saskatchewan-based country artist JJ Voss is bringing his signature sound back to Estevan for another unforgettable night of music.

Southern Saskatchewan will have a new resource to help out families in need as the provincial government has announced $6.5 million in funding for a new Ronald McDonald House in Regina.  

Before this, the Ronald McDonald Houses were located in Saskatoon and Prince Albert, which as a facility specializes in giving spaces to families whose children are undergoing treatment in a city centre to keep them together.

Human trafficking remains a concern in communities across Saskatchewan, and Estevan is no exception. Warren Morrical, the Estevan Police Service Deputy Chief, emphasized the importance of awareness and reporting suspicious activity.
