Prairie drone corridor aims to keep skies safe and curb illegal border activity

The RCMP has launched a trial drone corridor along parts of the Canada-U.S. border in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba to help combat smuggling and drug trafficking. The corridor extends up to 500 feet in altitude and one nautical mile north of the border. Local pilots are asked to provide advance notice before entering the corridor to ensure safe operations.

Breaking the chain of transmission: SHA seeks to increase measles vaccination rates

The outbreak of measles provincially and nationally has the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) issuing exposure alerts and taking measures to limit the spread. However, Medical Health Officer for the region, Dr. Stanley Enebeli, acknowledges the effective response observed in our communities, saying the region has seen little transmission. 

Carlyle RCMP looking for information on driver following hit-and-run incident

The Carlyle RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in locating the driver of a white Dodge truck that was involved in a hit and run this morning.

At around 7 a.m. on Highway 9 just north of Alameda, the truck was southbound on Highway 9 when it crossed the center line and clipped the oncoming vehicle.

RCMP reported that there were no injuries, with the victim's vehicle being drivable following the incident.

$3.75 million program to build or improve Saskatchewan school playgrounds opens this fall

A $3.75 million annual investment from the Government of Saskatchewan into a new program to help fund school playground equipment in communities across the province is coming this fall. Through the program, up to $50,000 in matched funding will be available for schools to build new or update existing playground equipment.

"Our government recognizes that every child deserves a place to play," Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Alana Ross said in the announcement.

Speedway hosts championship night with fierce competition expected

It's the final opportunity for racers to win some points for the Estevan Motor Speedway, as tonight is their championship night. Across all of their divisions, racers will be battling to get the last points they need for the top spot in their division.

Speedway President Brad Pierson says that there'll be plenty of competition that night.
