Airdrie’s Main Street south of Yankee Valley Boulevard will close to all traffic starting 8 p.m. Sunday for a utility tie-in and remain shut down until 5 a.m. Thursday.

A city-issued detour map shows a full closure from May 25 to May 29, with traffic rerouted via Sierra Springs Drive.

A vehicle fire that blocked the right-hand lane of northbound Deerfoot Trail near 64 Ave NE has been cleared, according to 511 Alberta.

The incident was first reported at 1:40 p.m. on May 21. Emergency crews responded, and the scene was cleared later in the afternoon.

Traffic was delayed in the area while crews dealt with the fire.

Drivers heading southbound on the QEII from CrossIron Drive should expect delays overnight Tuesday due to a bridge inspection.

According to 511 Alberta, the on-ramp will see lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour from 8 p.m. tonight to 6 a.m. May 21. Advanced signage will be in place.

Traffic is moving again on the southbound lanes of Highway 2 near CrossIron Drive, just south of Balzac, after an earlier motor vehicle collision caused delays Tuesday morning.

The incident was first reported at 8:02 a.m., according to 511 Alberta. Southbound traffic was congested for a short period while crews responded.

Emergency crews responded to an incident on 8 Street southbound near the Tim Hortons on Thursday morning, temporarily blocking at least one lane, according to a witness.

An eyewitness reported seeing fire, police and EMS vehicles at the scene. The area was later cleared and traffic resumed.

Officials did not confirm the nature of the response. No further details were released.

A vehicle fire northbound on the QEII in the vicinity of CrossIron Mills mall, approximately one kilometre north of Stoney Trail, has been cleared.

Motorists were advised of delays in the area. No other details were immediately available, though fire and police were on the scene. 

The report comes one day after a vehicle fire occurred near Airdrie on Tuesday evening, prompting fire crews to respond. That fire was successfully extinguished, and no injuries were reported. 

Crews are back on the QEII Highway for a second consecutive day of pothole repairs, this time affecting southbound traffic near the Calgary city limits.

Work is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today.

"Southbound QEII from jct Hwy566 to City of Calgary limits - pothole repair on May.14 from 9:30am to 2:30pm. Expect Fast and middle lane closed and reduce speed to 60km/h in the work zone," 511 Alberta tweeted.

A vehicle engulfed in flames Tuesday evening caused a traffic jam on the northbound QEII near Airdrie. The scene has since been cleared.

A vehicle fire scene has been cleared on the QEII, with traffic resuming. Earlier this evening, traffic slowed to a crawl due to a vehicle fire in the northbound lanes of the QEII Highway. The incident was just south of Yankee Valley Boulevard. 

Airdrie fire crews attended the scene and the vehicle was extinguished. While earlier reports indicated a highway closure, fire department officials confirmed that they had previously opened two northbound lanes.

Traffic was backed up for some time, though shortly before 8 Tuesday evening, traffic flow resumed.
