Update: Snowfall warning for Airdrie: Motorists urged to prepare for winter driving conditions

A previous snowfall warning for Airdrie and the surrounding areas has ended.

Previously, a snowfall warning was in effect for Airdrie and the surrounding areas, as heavy snow blanketed the region on Monday. Environment Canada forecast around 10 centimetres of snow, which led to challenging road conditions, particularly during the morning rush hour.

Update: Reports of multi-vehicle smash-up in Airdrie

A three-vehicle collision near 8 Street and 40 Avenue has been cleared.

The collision on Friday evening was impeding westbound left-turning lane traffic, with motorists reporting traffic congestion.

There is no word on injuries.

Airdrie commuters: 4th Avenue Flyover closure begins tonight

Airdrie motorists heading into Calgary should prepare for a temporary full closure of the 4th Avenue flyover, a key route downtown, as construction work shifts to the right side of the bridge.

The closure will start at 9 p.m. tonight and last until 5 a.m. Monday, November 18. It is part of the city’s plan to extend the flyover’s service life by 35 years. This weekend’s closure will allow workers to focus on the next phase of repairs on the right side of the bridge.

Update: Thick fog lingers over Airdrie roads—Drive with caution

A previous fog advisory that was issued for Airdrie and the surrounding areas has ended.

Earlier this morning, Airdrie residents may have experienced a slower Friday morning commute as fog shrouded the city and main roadways.

Thursday evening, residents of Airdrie and the surrounding area were urged to exercise caution, as a fog advisory is currently in effect.

Environment Canada issued the advisory, highlighting hazardous driving conditions.

Fog patches are reducing visibility to near zero in certain areas, and these conditions are expected to persist throughout Thursday night. Visibility is forecasted to improve by Friday morning, but until then, drivers should prepare for challenging travel conditions.

Driving through Veterans Boulevard tonight? Here's what you can expect

Crews will be out at Veterans Boulevard and the East Lake ramp tonight at 10 p.m. to replace the traffic signal pole.

During this work, the signal will flash red in all directions, acting like a four-way stop, and a temporary stop sign will be set up on the southbound side.  

Drivers are reminded to treat flashing red signals as a stop and approach the intersection with caution.

If you're heading that way tonight, please drive carefully and plan for a short delay.

Update: Collision causing traffic delays in Airdrie

An earlier collision at 8th Street and the Yankee Valley Boulevard intersection caused big delays in Airdrie. 

Traffic in all directions was down to one lane with crews on the scene. At one point the traffic northbound on 8th Street was shut down completely. The scene is now clear and traffic is flowing again. 

There have been multiple collisions in and around Airdrie over the last couple of days, despite clear roads and higher than normal temperatures.
