Heading to B.C. for Spring Break? Expect road closures
If you're thinking of taking a road trip to British Columbia for Spring Break later next week, road closures are planned on a major route.
From noon on Tuesday, April 11, till midnight on Saturday, April 15, all through traffic on Highway 1 from Golden to Castle Junction will be routed via highways 93S and 95. This will add as much as 1.5 hours of travel time.
Some lanes re-open after overpass collision on Deerfoot
Motorists are now able to travel both Eastbound and Westbound on 32 Avenue N.E., at Deerfoot Trail. The lanes were previously closed down for most of Thursday after a semi-truck had collided with the overpass.
However, motorists should continue to expect delays in the area as the Southbound lanes of Deerfoot remain blocked.
Earlier, emergency crews and police were on the scene of the collision along with engineers who were assessing if there was any structural damage to the overpass. No injuries were reported.
Update: Semi-truck collides with overpass on Deerfoot Trail
Some lanes have been re-opened after a road closure due to a semi-truck colliding with the overpass on 32 Avenue in northeast Calgary.
Calgary police were on the scene earlier helping to direct traffic.
Earlier Calgary police advised that 32 Avenue N.E. overpass bridge crossing Deerfoot Trail N.E., was closed in both directions.
Update: Airdrie emergency crews on scene of collision
The earlier collision that occurred at the intersection of 1 Avenue and 8th Street NW has been cleared.
Earlier in the morning, fire crews and police attended the scene of a multi-vehicle collision.
There was no word on injuries, however, motorists were asked to use caution as fire crews remained on the scene and there was congestion in the area.

Motorists should expect lane closures on the QEII till Friday
Beginning today, Thursday, March 16 at 9 a.m., there will be a single right outside lane closure Northbound on the QEII.
The lane closure, approximately 1.4 kilometres South of Yankee Valley Boulevard, is expected to last till 3 p.m. on Thursday, as well as on Friday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The closure is meant to accommodate the placement of concrete barriers along the highway.
Snow and Blowing Snow could mean a slow commute
Wind and blowing snow are causing poor visibility on the QE2. Some lanes are not defined and it's making things a bit treacherous for this morning's commute. According to 511 Alberta the western sections from the south to central Alberta are seeing snow and deteriorating road conditions with visibility near zero in some areas. The QE2 is seeing the snow-covered or partly-covered roads between Calgary and Red Deer.
Update: Multi-vehicle collision Southbound on QEII
The scene has been cleared.
On Friday evening, there were reports that a multi-vehicle collision occurred heading Southbound on the QEII towards Calgary. The collision was past the Crossiron Mills shopping mall.
Motorists reported that upwards of three vehicles were in the ditch along with a trailer that is on its side.
Police and emergency crews were on the scene.

Update: Emergency crews on scene of collision near Veterans Boulevard
The scene has been cleared.
Earlier on Friday afternoon there were reports of a collision near Veterans Boulevard and Main Street in the right-hand lane.
Witnesses said emergency crews were on the scene though there was no word if there are injuries or how many vehicles were involved.
RCMP was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.

Update: Vehicle collision in Airdrie causing massive gridlock
The scene has been cleared.
Earlier on Thursday morning, there are multiple reports of a vehicle collision heading Southbound on the QEII highway just after the Yankee Boulevard exit.
Both the left lane and the right lane were blocked as fire trucks are attending the scene and cleaning up debris. A portion of the center lane was open.
Update: Collision reported on Southbound Deerfoot Trail
The scene has been cleared.
Earlier on Sunday mid-morning, there were reports of a motor vehicle collision heading southbound on Deerfoot Trail at Stoney Trail Northeast near Country Hills Boulevard.
A vehicle was blocking the left-hand lane, hence motorists had to deal with delays and traffic congestion.
With the snowfall continuing throughout Sunday and into the evening, roads and highways may be partially covered with snow.
