Weyburn churches hosting Easter services beginning today
A number of the churches in Weyburn are holding services this Easter, beginning as early as today.
Grace United Church will host a Good Friday Service at 10:30 a.m., which will be led by the children and youth. Their Easter Sunday Service with Holy Communion starts at 10:30 a.m.

Small gathering held in support of Fred Sandeski upon care home eviction
A small rally was held outside of the Weyburn Special Care Home this afternoon for the eviction of Fred Sandeski from his room there. He had been living under the auspices of respite care since last fall.
In addition to media from Weyburn and Regina, a number of friends of Fred and his wife Teresa came out to show their support.
In spite of concerns raised by Teresa and other supporters about the level of care he will receive at home, the Saskatchewan Health Authority directed Fred Sandeski to return home, as he 'isn't sick enough' to be receiving long-term care.
Soo Line Cruisers hosting 22nd annual Show & Shine this June
The Soo Line Cruisers Car Club will be hosting their 22nd annual Show and Shine on June 14th. They’ll be taking over downtown Weyburn, blocking off 2nd and 3rd street to showcase over 200 cars, host live entertainment with a band as well as food and merch vendors from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Weyburn selected as site for new agricultural clean-tech facility
A new clean-tech initiative will be formally introduced to Weyburn City Council Thursday morning, as Prairie Clean Enterprises outlines its plan to bring a first-of-its-kind processing facility to the city.
The Saskatchewan-based company is preparing to launch a new operation that will convert flax straw into industrial-grade fibre and pellets for animal care and consumer markets. The facility will be located at 54 Queen Street, with construction on engineering upgrades scheduled to begin in May.
Bank of Canada holds key interest rate steady
The Bank of Canada left its benchmark interest rate unchanged Wednesday as it waits to get a clearer picture of how global trade uncertainty is going to impact the Canadian economy.
The central bank held its policy rate steady at 2.75 per cent, the first time it has left the key rate unchanged following seven consecutive cuts since June.

Green Party co-leader says removal from leaders' debates is 'undemocratic' ▶️
The stage will look different than originally planned Wednesday night, when Canada's major party leaders square off in the first of two nationally televised debates.
Instead of five podiums on the stage, there will now only be four.
The Green Party had its invitation rescinded less than 12 hours before the debate is set to start, with the Leaders' Debate Commission saying the party no longer met the criteria to be included.
Green Party co-leader Jonathan Pedneault called the "last minute decision" both "unfounded" and "undemocratic."
Community planning rally to support Sandeski family
A Weyburn man, who has been at the centre of a growing discussion around access to long-term and respite care in Saskatchewan, is expected to be discharged today from the Weyburn Special Care Home. The Saskatchewan Health Authority has directed Fred Sandeski, who has been living at the facility under respite care, to return home, despite concerns raised by his wife and supporters about the level of care he will receive there.
