Itchy but temporary: How to treat and prevent swimmer’s itch

Nickle Lake has recently experienced an outbreak of swimmer's itch-causing parasites. Swimmer's itch is a mild rash caused by the larvae of certain parasites.  

The Saskatchewan Health Authority says swimmer’s itch is caused by parasites getting transported to a non-chlorinated body of water through infected bird or mammal droppings. These parasites come in contact with people and attach themselves to their skin, triggering a reaction.  

Jo Dee Messina joins Country 106 to talk 'Heads Carolina, Tails California' tour and staying true to herself

This morning Country 106.7's Dara Currie was joined by country music star Jo Dee Messina to chat about her upcoming tour, making a stop in Regina in August. 

For fans of 90’s country music, Messina’s name is instantly recognizable. Her career kicked off with the single “Heads Carolina, Tails California” back in 1996 and now she is touring under the now iconic title. 

Community collaboration: Weyburn Arts Council and Collabartive Studios launch Regifted fund

They Weyburn Arts Council and Collabartive Studios have come together to create the Regifted Community Arts Education Fund. Regifted is directed at adults wishing to pursue various art programs. The fund provides fifty dollars to three applicants every quarter.  

The Weyburn Arts Council co-chair Stephanie Lang says the only requirement is being over the age of eighteen. 

Porcupine's downtown Weyburn vacation comes to an end

After spending a day checking out the sights of downtown Weyburn, a porcupine that captured the city’s attention has now moved on to a new location.  

Shortly before 11:00 a.m. Thursday, a porcupine was reported in a tree at the corner of Souris Avenue and 2nd Street. The City of Weyburn sent out an alert letting residents know to avoid the area, and barricades were set up to give the animal some space.

On the Canadian Country Showcase this weekend, I'm joined by country newcomer Mitch Zorn from British Columbia. Mitch will share his new single "Home," and we'll get to know him better. Canadian flights, hospitals, border disrupted during global technology outage

A global technology outage had grounded flights, disrupted hospitals and backed up border crossings in Canada on Friday, as reported issues persisted hours after the issues with Microsoft services were said to be getting fixed.

Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said that the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack.  The issue affected Microsoft 365 apps and services, and escalating disruptions continued after the technology company said it was gradually fixing it.

Thunderstorms may bring brief relief, but Weyburn's heatwave continues

Southeast Saskatchewan could see thunderstorms later today, as a few of the conditions needed for a storm are present. However, what does develop is expected to be disorganized, with scattered storms, weak winds, and no real shift in the wind pattern, which means it is unlikely anything severe could develop.

Beavers' bats go quiet in loss to Swift Current, despite 10 walks

The Weyburn Beavers were looking to make it two wins in a row over the Swift Current 57s Thursday night when the teams took to the field at Tom Laing Park Thursday night. Swift Current’s Jose Ayala had different ideas, however. He would finish the game a triple short of the cycle and drove in four runs to help power the 57s to a 9-5 victory, avenging Weyburn’s 8-5 win Tuesday night.
