Residents upset after missing CP Holiday Train

The CP Holiday Train this year was a huge success. Thousands of people arrived to see the train's stop in Josephburg.

Unfortunately, it may have been too big of a success, because some people missed the train entirely after experiencing heavy traffic on the way to the hamlet.

In a post made to the Fort Sask Informed Facebook group, many people expressed frustration after missing the train.

"Never have [I] seen the miles of traffic I saw tonight," Kathleen Corkum wrote. 

Jim Carr remembered as a "dedicated parliamentarian"

Jim Carr, a Liberal Member of Parliament for Winnipeg South Centre passed away at his home on Monday.

Carr was first elected to Parliament in 2015.

He served as Minister of Natural Resources from 2015 to 2018, in that role he emphasized the importance of environmental and regulatory systems.

In 2018 he was appointed Minister of International Trade Diversification and was involved in the development of the Canada and European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.

Owner looking for dog who escaped vet, was hit by car

All over Fort Saskatchewan are signs for a missing miniature labradoodle named Saulti Zazah. 

Saulti's owner, Iris Melnick, says that she brought her dog to the vet for a nail trimming last Monday (Dec. 5) at around 2 p.m.

"She's new to me, I've only had her for two and a half months," Melnick said.

Melnick told MIX 107 that her dog popped out of her collar and ran through the waiting room before jumping out the front door.

Federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau has launched consultations focused on developing a Sustainable Agriculture Strategy that will support the livelihood fo farmers while growing a sustainable sector.

She says the Strategy will focus on five key areas - soil health, climate adaptation and resilience, water, climate change mitigation, and biodiversity. 

59-year-old wanted for stealing Fort Saskatchewan poppy boxes

Police are looking for a man who was allegedly stealing poppy boxes in Fort Saskatchewan.

Through an investigation in November, police determined that 59-year-old Perry Chernish was the culprit.

Chernish has been charged with five counts of theft under $5,000 dollars.

Mounties say they're still trying to locate Chernish and have issued an arrest warrant.

Police are asking anyone with information on Chernish's whereabouts to contact the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP detachment.

Two Fort Saskatchewan hockey players make world juniors roster

Two Fort Saskatchewan hockey players will suit up for Team Canada at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. 

Colton Dach and Olen Zellweger both made the squad. 

Zellweger, who currently plays for the Everett Silvertips of the WHL, is a veteran of the world junior tournament, having won gold with Canada last summer. 

"There are expectations, and the team has a lot of goals in mind for the tournament," Zellweger told MIX 107.

The 19-year-old is an Anaheim Ducks prospect.

2021 is a year many in the ag sector would like to forget, the widespread drought resulted in a loss in production that left many farmers having to pay significant penalties on unfulfilled grain contracts.
