Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the assassination of former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe is "shocking," and that Canada has "lost a close friend" with his death.

Kirby Dach traded to Canadian NHL team

There has been plenty of player movement during the 2022 NHL Draft.

One of the biggest moves included Fort Saskatchewan's own Kirby Dach.

With the Blackhawks in a full rebuild, they decided to make a deal to ship Dach to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for picks 13 and 66 in this year's draft.

Kirby's brother Colton remains with the Chicago organization.

Sturgeon County residents win $100,000

Russell Clarke and Sheila Gray are $100,000 richer.

Clarke was at the Safeway gas bar in Fort Saskatchewan in mid-June when he remembered to check a lottery ticket he purchased a couple of months ago.

Turns out, the ticket matched the last six digits of a previous Lotto Max winning draw.

“I honestly thought the scanner was broken; all I saw was zeroes but I didn’t realize,” he said while claiming his prize. “I checked a non-winning ticket just to confirm. Then the machine went off and froze up the terminal.”

Payments were previously disbursed as an annual credit, but that has changed to quarterly installments, so Canadians will receive payments more frequently.
