Local author Jason Weening shares parenting stories of injury and adventure in new book

Parenting is never dull—especially with ten kids. Estevan author Jason Weening captures the humour and chaos of fatherhood in his latest book, Yes, Dear... I’m Watching Them: Stories of Injury and Adventure from the Front Lines of Dadhood. He joined the SUN 102 morning show to talk about the inspiration behind the book and the wild moments that come with raising a big family. Check out the full interview below.

Carnie's Comments - Facebook Friday

Carnie's Comments

It's time for the best of the week from the world's #1 social media site. It's Facebook Friday!

I love this, "My uncle texted to ask what does IDK mean? I said, 'I don't know' and he says, 'Ya, nobody seems to know'."

Can you relate? "My clothing is divided into three categories: summer, winter and just in case I lose some weight."

This funny guy shares, "When I was a kid I was diagnosed with a lazy eye. By the time I was 40, it had spread to the rest of my body."

The Scoop with Coop: Testing 90s knowledge

Anyone born in 1999 is on the fence of either being considered a 90s kid, or the first generation of the 2000s.

That's the case for myself, as I joined the five years my senior Nick Cooper on the Country 104 morning show to discuss 90s knowledge. He actually spent his childhood in the 90s and gave me a quiz this morning to determine whether or not I should call myself a 90s kid.

My resume of 90 knowledge and semi-experiences includes:

Martens Mutterings: BBQ Time is upon us!

We've made it. A string of temperatures that are actually going to stay warm, above zero and sunny. So, if you haven't already fired up the BBQ, this is the weekend to do so!

Now, there have been many a winter where I will still BBQ outside(not when it's -40, of course. I'm not insane), but this winter was an exception. The amount of snow that built up on my deck, I would have needed a dogsled team to come find me, if I even made it to the BBQ.

Potatoes: The New Eggs? The Hilarious Trend That’s Taking Over Easter!

So, it turns out that the Easter egg hunt might have just met its match. According to The New York Times, dyeing potatoes instead of eggs is the new trend this year. Why? Because eggs are just way too expensive! This year, we’re embracing the humble potato – a little starchy, a lot versatile, and somehow, oddly perfect for dyeing.

Now, you might be thinking, “Wait, potatoes? For Easter? What kind of madness is this?” And to that, we say: Yes. Why wouldn’t you dye potatoes?

Bloom and Find Your Pink: Huge event coming to Weyburn

You’ve already seen the message on social media: Spilling Prairie Tea is bringing “Bloom: Find Your Pink” to Weyburn. But one big question remains. What exactly is Bloom?

“Bloom is a day for women to come and join us and find their passions,” said Bloom and Spilling Prairie Tea member Lindsee Michel. “It’s all about empowering our community and empowering women that day.”

Michel was at the core of the planning for this community-wide event, as noted by one of her Bloom committee members, Lindsay Manko-Bauche.

Meet Scrappy Doo: April 4th's Spike & Friends Pet Services INC. Adorable Adoptable!

The Spike & Friends Pet Services Inc. Adorable Adoptables from the Moose Jaw Humane Society(MJHS) this week is Scrappy Doo. Scrappy Doo is a 1-2 year old neutered male.  Scrappy Doo was found stray as a kitten by a lovely lady who took him in loved him. Unfortunately, she had two other cats who did not enjoy Scrappy Doo and no matter what she tried, they would not stop picking on him. She finally reached out to the MJHS and asked if she could surrender him. As much as she misses him everyday, she knows she did the right thing for Scrappy Doo.
