Lifelong friendships and hands-on learning in local 4-H Clubs 

The evening before the Miami Fair and Rodeo, three 4-H clubs from the area met at the fairgrounds for an interclub judging competition. Hosted by the Miami 4-H club, the event offered an opportunity for kids and teens in 4-H to get a feel for livestock judging, something that is key to 4-H livestock projects.  

Canadian pride to peak at annual Canada Day celebration

A family-friendly event is set to celebrate the 158th birthday of Canada tomorrow afternoon with a free barbecue, cupcakes, and community activities.

The Canada Together event will begin with a ceremony that includes a Land Acknowledgment, flag raising, and a march featuring the Legion Branch 56 and local cadets. 

Brad Woods, partnerships and events coordinator for the City of Swift Current, shared that the festivities kick off at noon at Memorial Park. 

Fireworks spark excitement for Canada Day in Steinbach 

The City of Steinbach is hosting its annual Canada Day celebration on Tuesday, July 1. 

The community is encouraged to join the celebration, with activities at the Mennonite Heritage Village (MHV) starting at 9 a.m. MHV will be hosting a Canada Day ceremony, horse-drawn wagon rides, and more!  

The events at the MHV will end at 5 p.m., but the festivities don't stop there! The day will continue at the Steinbach Soccer Park.  

What’s happening this Canada Day in and around Moose Jaw

Here is a look at just a few of the events taking place in and around Moose Jaw for Canada Day: 

ParkArt 

A record number of vendors will be taking part in ParkArt in Crescent Park starting at 10 a.m. 

Over 80 vendors will be selling their arts and crafts, making it the largest ParkArt event in its 49-year history. 

Vendors will be coming from across Saskatchewan as well as Alberta and Manitoba. 

Admission is $5 and free for children under 12. 

Fountain Tire supports Wheatland County Food Bank in customer appreciation event

Fountain Tire in Strathmore held a customer appreciation event over the weekend.

The event was put on to thank customers and for residents to meet Frank Worthington, the new owner of the store.

Residents were asked to come down and donate food or cash to the Wheatland Food Bank in exchange for free lunch from food trucks that were on site.

Worthington explained why they put this event on.

"The community here is awesome. They look after us, and we just do our best to look after them in return."

I get it. I mean, the signal light is a fairly new piece of equipment. It's only really been in vehicles now for what, close to 100 years. It takes some getting used to still!

Taste of Summer Charity BBQ kicking off with support for Island Breeze

The first Taste of Summer Charity BBQ is coming up quickly, "roasting" of great food, and great causes.

The weekly fundraiser kicks off July 2 at 11 a.m. in front of Steinbach Credit Union (SCU), with proceeds from the first event going to Island Breeze, a local charity based just outside Steinbach.
